Arrived for our table booked for 6.30pm this evening, two hungry kids in tow after swimming. The place was about 1/4 full. Not busy, nothing like it can be on a Sunday lunchtime.
When we went to order the food, we were told there was only turkey left on the carvery. My wife and I both picked mains off the menu instead, but neither were available either. We went for our 3rd choice, and were told that there was then a 40 minute wait for food. It wasn't even busy.
We asked for the kids meals to come out sooner and separately, but "computer says no" it wasn't possible to do on the till. I'm not sure why the girl couldn't just walk into the kitchen and ask. Or offer some snacks like veg sticks for the kids.
After 60 mins and no food, we complained at the bar. There was no offer of a drink while we waited, or anything off our bill. No offer of an ice cream, side or a small gesture like that.
In the end our food arrive 1hr 15 mins after ordering. The kids were starving, it was 8pm.
The food was fine, a decent meal.
In the end we left after the mains. It was too late for desserts or drinks.
I've cancelled the family table we had booked for Easter. I haven't any confidence the staff could handle a busy Easter Sunday.
Kid-friendliness: It's OK, but you can't relax because people don't close the fire doors on the indoor play area or the gate the car park. Kids under 5 will be running right off.

Very good carvery, with plenty of vegetables to select from. Good for parents with children as there is a separate room for families. A bonus for everyone else, as there is a separate place for adults only, where children aren't allowed. Bliss!

So booked a table for 4 for a carvery got there in plenty of time, member of staff booked us in and showed us our table went to the bar, the couple we were with bought a round of drinks and ordered their carveries and got their tickets and then told the young girl (who was lovely and polite btw) that the other couple they were with (me and my hubby) wanted 2 carveries also but when she came to serve us the manager spoke to her, she then came back to us and told us there was no carveries left!! We were so disappointed as we had booked the day before to then arrive and be told nothing left. The manager also let the young girl take the rap for it too. So disappointed they should have let us know on arrival before taking our drinks order etc not good service at all?the barmaid did refund the other couple we were with for their carveries but not a good experience at all!!

Having had a lovely meal here a few weeks ago, we decided to go again today. What a disappointment, we were shown to our table and opted for The Carvery, once we started eating everything was cold and the ham was very fatty. We did complain on the way out, but were simply asked if no one had checked back. They hadn?t, she was apologetic but that was it and just walked off

Rang up to enquire about the carvery, was told rather abruptly that it's served all day everyday, like I'm stupid. turned up around 6 ish to be told there is no carvery, not even a sorry. drove 25 minutes as well as had heard loads of good reviews. Won't be visiting again

Wasn't a great visit, was fairly quiet 4 tables in...one table was complaing as we was waiting for our starters, but the staff seemed to deal with it fine and all was sorted, another couple had ordered carvery, they was stood 15min at the carvery stand waiting for someone to come serve them, the front of house (two that was on) was in the kitchen, the couple got a refund and left, our mains came out tikka was alright buttermilk burger lovely my daughter said, my steak however was cold the butter wouldn't melt on it, I did send it back and they did re warm it but it then it just tasted too much of charcoal off the grill. The service was very poor the front of house staff shouldn't both be in the back

After a bad week, there was nothing else for it then to return to our favourite food hub!
This time though we?ve decided to try out the breakfast (recent option)
The staff are on point as always, food fantastic (had the full English) and brilliant value.
A roaring fire on a cold day is most welcome too x x

It's mediocre, foods ok nothing special, they only do the carvery at weekends now which is a shame. Always use to be busy, but only a handful of people there now. My friend needed a gluten free menu, but this wasn't catered for, although they were able to advise what they could provide, by showing an allergies folder.

Place was once very good, and I rated it highly. But sadly it has gone down hill slightly in more recent times. The value is not as good as it once was and neither is the quality. I think it's just about OK, but for me not worth it these days.

Really nice food. Couldn't believe how big the desserts were!

I recently came to the bowling green to have the carvery, the meat choice was good however the veg was very minimal with little left in the pans of each choice making it not really worth the money
