In general B&Q are expensive. Most things can be found much cheaper elsewhere. Additionally, their plants are generally in a poor condition.
And they do not accept a return within 24 hours of a plant which, on closer inspection than in the store, shows at least 2 fungal diseases which the RHS consider terminal for the plant. This is not of merchantable quality, but the B&Q policy says otherwise.

Errors in their click and collect were compounded by poor customer service at the branch and then the complaints team saying there is nothing they can do and for me to contact the branch which I have done without reply. For 2025 this really is poor customer service.

I've been In a couple of times and spoken to a lady who deals with the kitchen side of things. I didn't catch her name but she was extremely knowledgeable about products and questions I had about up-cycling my kitchen cupboards. She was very helpful and friendly. On another occasion I spoke with a gentleman who was also a great help regarding paint and other products what I needed. Can't fault any of the staff here they all do a fantastic job.

Disappointing Experience with B&Q Kitchen Installation:
I recently had a kitchen fitted in a rental property through B&Q, and unfortunately, the entire experience has been nothing short of disappointing. From start to finish, the customer service was lacking, and the quality of workmanship fell well below expectations.
The fitter provided by B&Q demonstrated a clear lack of competence, delivering subpar work with poor attention to detail. The kitchen was left with numerous issues, including poor alignment of the larder cabinet, which significantly impacted the overall look and functionality of the space. To make matters worse, dirt and sawdust were left under the kitchen cabinets, showing a complete disregard for cleanliness and professionalism. Despite raising these concerns, it took over nine months for B&Q to arrange remedial works. While some problems were eventually addressed, there are still visible imperfections left by the original fitter that B&Q refuses to rectify.
To make matters worse, the managers attempted to justify the fitter?s work, insisting that he was competent despite the clear and numerous issues with the job. This lack of accountability and unwillingness to acknowledge the poor workmanship only added to my frustration.
Additionally, when carrying out the remedial work, B&Q failed to properly plan for the disconnection and reconnection of the gas cooker hob. As a result, my tenant was left without a working cooker for almost a week, causing significant inconvenience and further highlighting the lack of attention to detail and customer care.
After the remedial works were completed, I had to contact B&Q again in July 2024 regarding the misaligned larder cabinet, as the issue remained unresolved. They assured me that someone would be sent to fix it. However, when I followed up three months later in September 2024, it became apparent that my enquiry had been completely forgotten. The new manager, Mark Peach, promised to resolve the issue, yet as of today, 21st February 2025, nothing has been rectified. To make matters worse, their complaints procedure is a complete mess, as the area manager does not resolve any issues, leaving customers in a never-ending cycle of unfulfilled promises and poor communication.
As a customer, I expected a professional service and quality finish, but instead, I am left with a kitchen that does not meet basic standards. I would not recommend B&Q?s kitchen installation service based on my experience, particularly if you are looking for a smooth and reliable experience. Additionally, I would advise against purchasing a kitchen from B&Q altogether, as the quality of their kitchens is poor and not worth the investment.

Just been to buy 3 tubes of solvent free adhesive and the guy behind the till asked me for ID, (I?m 32 years old) so i went to my van and come back with my ID, he?s then started quizzing me about how old I am, I?m not being funny but I?m married with children! Sort your act out! Tradesman haven?t got time for this and especially not with the attitude given by staff.
