Booked a table for 2. Table position was poor, we felt like we stuck out in the room on the end. Food was okay. The waitress got my order wrong. I ordered sirloin steak but got fillet & was charged for fillet, which I personally would have amended as good customer service. The fillet was quite bland, not seasoned. My partner had the mixed grill, which again was okay, nothing really special. We also had the banana split, this was amazing!

I?m really disappointed with The Calves Head in Worston. The food is good, but it?s become a touch overpriced for pub fare, and the service is awkward and rushed.
We were served by a bloke who looked like Lurch from The Addams Family ? not exactly welcoming and similar charisma. The rest of the staff were fine. I had the gammon, which was tasty, but it came with a side of orange near tasteless mash that looked more like baby food than veg (still not sure if it was carrot or sweet potato or baby spew). We found that our plates were cleared almost the instant our food was finished, hence the rushed feel about the place.
To top it off, I was charged full price for a slice of meat pie to take away for a family member who couldn?t make it, which was a rip off considering the full price should include chips, peas and baby spew non of which were supplied.. (I understand they aren?t a takeaway but please don?t take the piss by charging full whack for half a meal).
This place used to be good value and worth the drive, but not anymore. I?m sure they don?t care but I won?t be back.

We enjoyed our stay at the Calf?s Head. We were attending a wedding at the Outbarn. We found the location a little remote but perfect if you just want some nice walks and peace and quiet. Food was really nice and rooms were clean.

Had lunch on Friday and wouldn?t rush back for the sandwiches. The prawn one was a DIY sandwich for some reason. Very unimpressed! And the dragons breath pate is no longer hot?what?s all that about??!?

Ordered the cock and bull, unfortunately below par. The beef was tough and the chips were 8 times cooked, not enjoyable.

We called in to the Calf's head on our way back from Skipton's big bike weekend, wonderful location, friendly & professional staff , beer in top form, what a great place, big thanks from the Southport Cruisers Motorcycle Club.

Really nice location greeting was warm by the staff the restaurant was nice and clean with a good mix of staff both young and older. The carvery was very nice but what impressed me I asked for more custard on the jam roly poly and when it came my dish was overflowing. Only slight constructive criticism was seeing the staff on their break smoking on the emergency exit stairs did look a bit scruffy to be honest maybe think of somewhere out of site of the customers but al in all well done we will be coming back in the future.

I went with high hopes given its great reputation. However that was not to be. I ordered Sunday lunch, beef and pork. The beef was odd, slivers of a strange cut that was tender but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what cut it was. All I could liken it to is beef you'd get in a Chinese takeaway, the pork was mostly fat, the yorkshire pudding was a frozen one and microwaved for sure, I only got roast potatoes, no mash or boiled ones. The plate was a mess, garden peas stuffing. It honestly looked like something from an old folks home. The gravy was actually lovely. The desert was also odd, coffee renoir that was blathered in whipped cream.
For me, the place is catering to far too many tables, we had a little wait for seating and we'd booked, on ordering we were told we'd also have another wait, 25 mins maybe so not too bad but the amount of tables I think is hindering everything and most importantly the quality of the food.
My advice, scale back the covers.
