A nice place for a drink with a friend or two. If you're heading out in a larger group this might not be the venue for you. Staff are always chatty and welcoming.

This is a well established pub hidden in the buildings of Carnforth railway station. Outside seating is interesting consisting of a few table benches as you can watch the trains speed through the station.
Opening times are restricted so plan your visit!
The beer range & in particular cask is always varied & interesting. Last few times Fell's Tinderbox has been on a cask line & at 6%+ very popular!
The bar area is very small, but well stocked for other drinks as well.
Usually busy with locals it's a great place to stop off.

Great service, good selection of well kept cask ales properly poured.
Snug by name Snug by nature, only a small pub so can get full quite quickly and you may not get a seat. Don't let that put you off it's worth the visit.
Small but perfectly formed.

My father and I recently had a very disappointing experience at The Snug in Carnforth. After arriving at the train station and finding the toilets closed, we decided to visit The Snug, thinking we could purchase some crisps and a drink while using their facilities.
When we entered the pub, it was busy with several men at the bar. We waited patiently for the bearded bartender to finish what he was doing before politely asking if they had any toilets. To our surprise, the bartender responded in a cocky and dismissive tone, "For paying customers, yeah," in front of the others who were watching us.
We were shocked by his rudeness. A simple, courteous response like, "Yes, we have toilets, they're for customers, but you can grab some crisps or a drink and use them," would have been more than acceptable. Instead, the bartender chose to be condescending, replying, "Through that door behind you that says toilet," again in a very dismissive tone.
This interaction left us feeling uncomfortable, and despite offering to buy some crisps, the bartender then said "it didn?t matter." If it didn?t matter, what was the point of his rude behavior?
The lack of basic kindness and decency was appalling. The laughter from the other men at the bar afterward only made it worse. Do you have fathers or daughters? Would you want them to be treated this way?
Overall, our experience at The Snug left us with a very poor impression of both the establishment and the atmosphere in Carnforth. Kindness doesn?t cost anything, and I hope The Snug rethinks its approach to customer service.

Never been to Carnforth before. Just here changing trains. Saw 'The Snug' and the door was open (at 4pm). As I walked in the door a clearly irritated balding, grey haired portly gent, behind the bar snapped "Can't you read?" pointing to a small sign on the door. "It says Tuesdays, 5pm" He was correct of course, but crikey, some welcome! Anyway he did me a favour as I had a great pint in the Station Hotel opposite. Not a great first impression of The Snug tbh. Whoever owns this place takes note and if the owner is the grey haired, balding portly chap then you'll soon be haemorrhaging customers with that attitude.

Boring. The beer was good but the barman was rude and unwelcoming just because I was louder than a whisper. Won't be going again. Not into drinking establishments where you have to whisper so as not to cause offence.

If you like beer and trains - you?ll love this bar. Word of warning though - if you arrive by car and park on the Station car park - you?ll have to pay via a smart phone - far better letting the train take the strain.
