I?ve recently joined Bupa on their most comprehensive plan (over £800 a year), and this was my first dental experience through them. Unfortunately, it left me extremely disappointed.
At the start of my appointment, I was told I?d need an X-ray as part of being a new patient. At no point was I informed that this would be chargeable. Only afterwards was I handed paperwork showing charges of £77 for the X-ray and £85 for a scale and polish ? and asked to sign to acknowledge these fees. Patients should be clearly told about costs before treatment, not surprised afterwards.
The scale and polish itself lasted barely five minutes. In every other private practice I?ve attended, this has been a 20?30 minute appointment with proper time and care. Here, it felt rushed and perfunctory.
To make matters worse, I was asked to leave the dental chair mid-appointment and walk to reception to confirm whether my treatment was included in my plan. This could easily have been handled internally, and was uncomfortable and unprofessional.
I eventually had to write a note on the paperwork stating I had not been informed of charges beforehand, only for staff to later confirm that I would not be billed. The whole process felt chaotic and left me questioning whether patients are being misled into signing for unnecessary costs.
For a Bupa-approved practice, I expected transparency, professionalism, and proper patient care. Sadly, what I experienced was the opposite. I would strongly urge management to review their policies so other patients aren?t put through the same stress.

Had a hygienist visit with Lyndsay yesterday
Second time I?ve been treated by Lyndsay and was very pleased . Lyndsay was professional throughout , put me at my ease. Wonderful ?bed side ? manner and kept me informed of what she was doing .? I?m very happy with how the visit went

I had an excellent experience at Bupa Dental Care . They got me in quickly when I was in a lot of pain and gave me the treatment I needed. The staff were amazing?Elayne and Claire on reception were so kind and efficient, and Therapist Lyndsay and dental nurse Tyler took great care of me during the procedure. I really appreciate all of their professionalism and compassion. Highly recommend!

Brilliant place to go to, if in pain or for a simple check up.they treat you with respect and support. They are very helpful with any questions you have. Above and beyond. Ps I used to have to take carm tablets before I would go to any dentist, now I'm happy to go without taking them.

Visiting the UK from the US, I needed an emergency dental check. Bupa was great! Everything was easy, all the staff were professional and friendly, prices very reasonable. This was an overall excellent experience. If you are visiting the UK, don't hesitate to ask Bupa for help.
