visited checks and greys Saturday 7th December, it was awful it took 55 minutes for food to arrive, we had the turkey with stuffing on ciabbatta roll with salad, the turkey was 2 slices of processed turkey roll, and at £8.50 we expected proper turkey at least, unfortunately we were so hungry we ate it, but won't be visiting again in a hurry.

First time visiting Checks and Greys and it was great. Lovely bright airy cafe and spotlessly clean. Good menu with plenty of choice and reasonably priced. We had the lunch and the chunky chips are enormous but so light and fluffy. Friendly and helpful staff. We?ll definitely be back.

We tried ordering food at the Morrisons cafe but you could only order on the screen and we got nowhere fast so I remembered passing checks&greys in the past so we called in and ordered 2 small Lancashire breakfasts and an oat latte and a normal latte from the friendly staff ( not an impersonal screen) and then sat at the table while our food was prepared and when it was brought over the staff were again friendly asking if there was anything else
The food was well cooked and very tasty and a reasonable price
We will be back here for the friendly staff and the food

We had an excellent lunch with two meals two drinks and a small cake for £20. The staff were lovely and the place clean, airy and light.
I would highly recommend this place to eat, drink or meet friends.

This place is a gem. Lovely views across cathedral chair. The food is great and very reasonably priced. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. One of my favourite places to have breakfast. The coffee is really good too.

Cafe is in a lovely location by the cathedral, which looks out onto a little square where they've created a nice outdoor area and play area for kids.
We ordered from the breakfast menu; smashed avocado on toast, poached eggs and bacon on toast, and a full Lancashire breakfast. The food was lovely and cooked to order. The poached eggs were particularly delicious and runny. It did take a while to arrive, despite the cafe not being very busy. They seemed to have a lot of online orders that created a little chaos for the staff.
The atmosphere inside was ok, staff as mentioned seemed very busy but were friendly and helpful. Decor is a bit bland, but everything is very clean and tidy. I do love the name of the cafe and heritage behind it.
Would eat here again, when back in the area.

Nice food this and nice attentive waiting staff, my only issue with it is the lack of parking. I had to park on Morrisons which is 3 hours for free so a nice solution in the end.

I visit on most Sundays for smashed avocado on toast and a large pot of tea. The food is good and reasonably priced. The service is always excellent - friendly and speedy. Tables and decor clean and smart.

Excellent and quality vegetarian and vegan options?and the meat my husband had he said was very good quality.
I had a vegan breakfast. It was delicious. You can create your own but the set vegan breakfast had delicious slice of toast, smashed avocado, a beautiful vegan sausage, beans, mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. My husbands had poached eggs (choice) black pudding, sausage, toast, beans, tomato?s and mushrooms.
The service was excellent and the food quality was amazing.
Highly recommend
Vegetarian options: Both vegan and vegetarian options. And the vegan sausage I had was so nice. Not the usual mushed veg but an actual full vegan sausage. Delicious

Excellent café. The food we had was excellent, especially the home cooked chips and the hog roast and apple teacake. Fish was very good as well.
