Such an amazing place that claims to essentially be humble a cafe. I had a fish finger sandwich, which was just simply the best ever. All homemade and delicious! This place melted my heart! We were staying at a local hotel who highly recommended The Bears to us during a little well needed family break? it did not disappoint!! The whole place has such a beautiful unique charm, we went in for a bit of lunch before we started our return journey home? and I went in to look at the cakes, but was blown away by all of the interesting gorgeous items that fill the place! If I didn?t have a train to catch, I?d probably still be looking around! My son, who is visually impaired, has high functioning autism and ADHD was looking around in wonder - the young lady who was waiting the tables was so beautifully patient and kind toward him and helped explain every item without batting an eyelid! He chose such a fantastic cool money box to bring home, and I also found some really unique items myself ??
We ordered some food which was amazing!!! I highly recommend the Cumberland sausage sandwich - it was next level!! The prices are brilliant for the amount you get and the quality!! Unbeatable!
We then met the lovely Peter who was so cheerful and accommodating to us all, including our little dachshund? we all felt so relaxed and welcome ? nothing was too much trouble or stress!
Our only negative is that we didn?t find this gem sooner - we all agreed that we will be returning again to tankerton, especially to The Bears!
If you truly appreciate a place that is built with love, has so much charm and uniqueness, delicious food, lovely staff, and a nice unusual souvenir to take home on top - then this place is perfect for you!! A really special establishment that has heart and soul ??

The Bear's never disappoint. We showed up with a party of 9 and 2 dogs, we were seated quickly, and had our drinks soon after. Food was great, service was exceptional.

An absolute must visit if you come to this area. Probably even worth travelling for. Quirky cafe/shop with a good varied menu. Caters for food intolerance. Family run business passionate about food. They do a very nice gluten free afternoon tea.

Visited for the first time today, high tea for my sisters birthday.
What an amazing place! Really good little find, the food was amazing & there was so much of it! Real value for money, we had to bring leftovers away in doggy bags! Staff really attentive & funny with good jokes! Decor is great too! Thanks for a great afternoon!

The menu is thoughtful and well-executed, offering a great mix of fresh, locally sourced options. Whether you?re stopping in for a full breakfast, a light lunch, or just a quality coffee and cake, everything is beautifully presented and full of flavour. On our most recent visit, everything arrived promptly and tasted fantastic.
The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with stylish touches that give the place a charming character ? perfect for catching up with friends, a casual date, or a quiet solo break with a good book.
Highly recommend for anyone in or visiting the Whitstable/Tankerton area. The Bear?s Trading Company gets it right on all fronts ? great food, exceptional service, and a lovely coastal vibe. We?ll definitely be back!
