Great selection and plenty of room (it doesn?t feel cramped like some supermarkets). The prices are a little on the high side, but they seem reasonable given the quality.

On Friday 15th August I shopped in Waitrose Tonbridge at about 19:00 as I have done pretty much every week since it opened. Imagine my horror when approaching the tills to find none of them to be staffed! I was directed by a young Lady member of staff to the self service tills, a service, or lack of it, that I?ve never chosen to use & won?t repeat. The staff member then stood behind me but offered no instruction. She did ?chat? throughout about how she & her boyfriend normally only work at weekends, her holiday & how her car had broken down. Part way through the process, with visibly about half my shopping still in the adjacent trolley, I removed a full bag of shopping that I had scanned, this interrupted the process. I brought this to the attention of the staff member whom alarmingly instructed me to select the button for ?Finish & Pay?. Presumably she would have allowed me to leave the store having scanned only half of my shopping. I ignored her & scanned the remainder before paying in full & leaving the shop. In doing so I spotted that there is a button to select when removing a bag. I?ll know but there won?t be a next time.
Perhaps you can advise why customers are expected to experience such poor service & why I should not in future use M & S round the corner, where I appear to be able to guarantee the level of service that used to be offered by Waitrose.
Whilst profits may be lower than hoped, the company still makes a profit & doesn?t need to understaff its shops to drive down costs. Or is the company just greedy?

Prides its self on being more up market. Staff are rude and toilets should be shut down there disgusting and clearly not been cleaned in days

I've always liked Waitrose with their variety of different brands, which is limited in other supermarkets & their knowledgeable & helpful staff.

Waitrose seem to have a very strict policy when selling Scratchcards/Lottery. The staff of course are just doing their job as per the Challenge 25 policy. However, the attitude the staff have when asking for ID is strange, almost like you're inconveniencing them for them having to ask!

Nicely laid out, good range of quality food, drink and household products, helpful staff. Great range of vegetarian and vegan food too. Cafe is good value with nice food and drink options.
