Great place for pub grub if you are in the area. Beware the potions are rather large. I had the Skate and it was cooked to perfection.

Inside and sat down by five past midday. Ordered about 15 minutes past having opened a tab at the bar receiving tab key in receipt of my retained card. Person at the food till asked me if I was paying for the food? I politely said NO, that is why I have given you the tab card. She said OK, on your bill. Strange!
Half an hour later -no food- but customers arriving 10 minutes after us were served! Asked a young waitress if she could find out where ours was. She came back with it. I looked at my Gammon, it was dry, no sheen to it. COLD. Been grilled and left! Chips lukewarm. Asked for it to be taken back. It came back microwaved! The chips were rock hard, thinner ones shattered like crisps. My wifes lasagne was so dry that it was only edible with loads of mayonnaise to help it down. Her chips were also like potato crisps. At £35.45, this was a disgrace. Having run a large food , tourist pub in the Isle of Man, I know what I am talking about! Only choice of veg on menu is peas! If you don't like peas, what then, no veg with your steak pie?
This place has gone down a very slippery slope. Coming here for years, along with friends. After yesterday, will not be back nor will about seven others. The beer was very good (Pilot) and I commend the young waitress Emily who helped us. So polite and apologetic, athough not her job to apologise for incompetence in the kitchens.

Well what can I say? Yes it does live up to all the good reviews, really is the best bit of fish I had in a long time, the batter was really nice to, spot on!
100% worth a visit!
Staff very friendly and welcome you, they go the extra mile to ensure you are all happy and enjoy your stay!

Visited 14th Aug 2025 to show my support after a drunk driver ploughed through the veranda taking out approx 100 seating area could be less on Saturday 9th August... After working through the night they were back open for business minis the Veranda on Sunday 10th August. I have to say the service did not fail neither did the atmosphere or food.. They are providing a brilliant service as per the normal and food is deffo still up to to their high standard. Troy was our waiter and remained bubbly and helpful through out along with the all the other staff.. Hot and bothered but still managed to smile and be polite under such extreme circumstances

Just stopped for a drink but the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. A lovely spot with lots of outside seating. Great views over the beach.

The Pilot Inn is a great fish and chip restaurant featuring other tasty dishes too. It has a history from the smuggling over the centuries to a garden of remembrance for the aircraft remains of the ditched B17 bomber crew of 1944. They were rescued just offshore. Children's meals are substantial and very good value for smaller adult appetites too ... served with soft drink plus quality ice cream deal worth having. Thank you for a memorable family experience.

We always return to the Pilot for food and drinks. The service is absolutely immaculate with exceptionally friendly staff and quick service, it cannot be faltered. The portion sizes are huge and the food is cooked to perfection at great prices, exactly what you want for pub grub. Lovely clean facilities and a brilliant atmosphere with beachy theming. A real asset to the area and an absolute gem! Troy in particular as a member of staff is such an asset to the team with his friendly manner, he could not do enough to help the customers. We love it and will definitely be returning, thank you to the Pilot team!!

Excellent food, good service and lovely atmosphere. Wife and I will use again when back within reach. I must also add congratulations to all the staff and others who helped get the place opened on time after a car crashed into the building on Sunday 10th August, well done.

We had huge portions of haddock and chips with enough left over for some hungry spaniels. Very reasonably priced and a great selection of drinks at the bar. Fast service despite it being a Saturday night in August. We'll be back!

Possibly the best fish and chips in the UK? Amazing meal, lovely staff, great atmosphere, unique setting. We were a big group, but the staff were really helpful in squeezing us in.
