Tried this place again yesterday for a pint as it had taken an upturn under the new manager Jade but was told she had to leave suddenly and it showed. Place was a mess, wet tables and empty glasses and a bad vibe generally about the place. Made things even worse by having a £5 burger from out the front and my guts have been a mess since.

What a place - I came to Rochester to visit a friend and she recommended this place; we went last night (Friday) and I?m still buzzing now! There?s a DJ, plenty of good vibes and the staff are amazing! We were part of a group and the staff couldn?t be more accommodating. The place is under new management and you can tell Jade (new manager) is putting her all into the place. She personally introduced herself and moved some tables around so we could all have a seat even though it was busy. Perfect location, right next to Rochester Castle. Reasonably priced drinks. Actually considering staying in Rochester another night so we can come back for the live band on Sunday! Big thanks to Jade & co for an amazing weekend away.

Owner is rude, ripped our phones out of our hands when trying to record his abusive, aggressive behaviour. Stood behind bouncers being very aggressive towards us but wouldn?t allow us to get a photo or video of him with how he was acting. Terrible place, bouncers are also rude and condescending, never been spoken down to like that before. Wouldn?t bother going unless you want your evening ruined. Terrible place with terrible people who have no morals and think they own the high street.

Well what can I say? One of the best hotels and pubs there is!! Met the lovely new manager jade and her darling cat Louis, made me and my family feel so welcome and part of the family! Will 100% be coming back! Thank you for a wonderful stay and the customer service is second to none! Lots of love the Bixley family! Xx

Really looking forward to coming back here, with my dog Murray again! popped in by chance sunday, what friendly, cheerful bar staff! perfect pint of Guinness, lovely comfortable atmosphere. I had to leave before the live singer was on but was told they are every Sunday so will definitely come back, the manager gave Murray doggy treats and was making a fuss of him, very dog friendly pub! cheers.

Lovely pub situated in a beautiful location , The new manager Jade introduced herself and welcomed us to the pub . We were made to feel welcome by Al the polite friendly bar staff . The atmosphere was brilliant . The pub is clean tidy & welcoming . The toilets were spotless . The DJ was great . Will def come back here . This is also a very dog friendly pub !

Very friendly staff, but considering they weren't opening until 2pm yesterday, the bar was filthy with straws and fruit on the bar from the night before. The bar was sticky so clearly hadn't been cleaned, the table we sat at was dirty and sticky as well

So the doorman of this place let's in very young, underdressed girls, but then tells older people it's too packed to come in. Blatant discrimination and inappropriate behaviour. When pointed out, said doorman shrugs his shoulders... three emails later to the pub and still no reply or contact so they too must think this is acceptable !

bring back the sunday lunch, best thing in rochester, great value for money, why get rid of it. we then all bought drinks, really sad looking now without the sunday lunch gilda

Expensive and poor service.I was waiting at the bar when a lady literally pushed me out of the way and ordered her drink. I didn?t say anything but she then started on me, so I went to get the bouncer and told him what happened and he said ?oh I?m really sorry but that?s the owners sister so I can?t do anything?. Absolutely ridiculous, I didn?t feel safe after that so I left and won?t be going back!

Wear a suit or equivalent to gain entry. Wore a white dress shirt, black dress shoes and black trousers. Got let in initially, then bouncers decided to pat me down to find string on the inside (not visible) of my trousers. They got deemed as joggers and I was refused entry.

High Sreet pub in Rochester but on a cold rainy day it was very quiet when we visited it today. Well priced food and drink, sausage baguette and bowl of chips with a cider and glass of wine was very good.

We never got past the door!A lady almost ran over to inform us that because my partner was wearing sports bottoms we could not come in There I am at 61 on the other side of a disability trolley Oh yes a real riot about to happen! Lol2mins later a guy dressed identically walzted right in We were in fact there to make a booking for a date weekend Forget it! Draculas Castle here we come!!!

Staff are lovely and friendly! Work fast and effectively while still keeping pleasant conversation, watch them work hard all night! Can?t recommend enough!!
