I will never go to Halfords again.
I went in for a free suspension check because I noticed a knocking sound on the passenger side when driving over bumps. After their inspection, they told me:
Rear bush excessively worn ? renew both lower suspension wishbone arms (front axle) ? £448.96
Both front shock absorbers seriously weakened ? renew both ? £864.30
Plus, they claimed there was an oil leak and that some rubber parts on the gearbox needed replacing.
The total estimate was shocking. On top of that, they warned me it could be dangerous to drive and even suggested I use Klarna finance if I couldn?t afford the repairs immediately.
Feeling uneasy, I went for second opinions at two different garages (Kwik Fit and Formula One). Both spent over an hour and a half checking thoroughly. Their verdict: there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car. They assured me it was completely safe to drive with my 2-year-old daughter. One mechanic with over 25 years of experience even said he drives the same Nissan Juke and that the noise I described is perfectly normal.
So my question is: why was Halfords trying to charge me over £1,300 for work that doesn?t even need doing?
I find this absolutely disgusting. Scaring customers into expensive, unnecessary repairs is unacceptable. I?ll never return to Halfords, and I strongly recommend others get a second opinion before trusting their advice.

Very friendly and professional. We were the first job of the day and the tyres we had changed was done in a very prompt manner. After collecting the car we noticed a rubbing noise when we pulled away so we went straight back to the garage and they took it back on the ramp straight away to rectify the issue at no extra cost to us. I would highly recommend this garage to anyone. Excellent service all round.

Went to a Air Con Diagnostic paid service and had to leave the car at Halfords Autocentre Strood. After about 4 hours received a call to call collect the car. They said that I have to replace the condenser as it is leaking and got a quote to buy the new condenser which is none refundable £ 561.42 and to do the repair will cost few more hundreds or similar. I didn't go for it and drove the car to another A/C repair shop on the same street and my car was checked by a technician (may be 20 years old) and told that a seal is missing on the A/C compressor with in less than 15 minutes. He installed the seal and regassed and checked and all good now. So the leak was fixed just by installing a rubber seal which cost me only £10. I m not sure what diagnosis Halfords did on my car charging me £17.50. What a scam that Halfords Autocentre Strood tried to charge me £561.42 + repair cost for nothing.

Car booked in for new battery on Wed , and fitted Friday, £249, then told they not got it, so booked in with formula 1 ,price ,£78, Halfords in Strood is ripoff, won't buy anything from them in future.

Go to Local Machanic. Never Trust Halfords, they scammed me on MOT and tried to sell me £300 of things that my car never needed done. Never ever trust Halfords, scammers.

Really helpful staff had a free clutch check came back ok, which was a relief. Also, they suggested a brake fluid change to rule out any possible issues, so very easy to book in and can be while you wait. They went through everything they had done with email results and paper invoice very good value for money as well. I highly recommend that if you think you have a problem with your car ? talk to these guys first. Also, easy online booking
