Gloomy and dated. Prices high. Still use antiquated system in which you need to spend at least £5 to use a card? Why is this necessary in 2023? Makes it very awkward for the customer. My wife and I went in today and bought a couple of small bits. My wife said that she would pay and went to the till and I made my way to the door to wait. The guy at the till said to my wife ? Can?t believe that he didn?t put them in the bag for you?. This is not 1860- my wife was perfectly capable to put the two small boxes in her bag. Completely out of order for this bloke to think he had the right to make such a comment on how we act as a couple. A thoroughly depressing experience in a dismal store which matches the attitude of the staff. Give it a wide berth.

It's got to be the biggest rip off known to man, the wood saws are three times the price of Screwfix for the same thing all the tools are useless just like the silly man that works in there is ,the shop is a joke and trading standards should shut it down

Really helpful staff, who know what they are talking about. Makes a nice change from being taken for granted in a chain store.

Not at all helpful , he the owner was impatient and not very helpful. Independent shops like his need to upgrade their customer service

Family run business that stands the test of time. Worth supporting instead of the big sheds.

A well established shop is always good to see in a town, and this is one of them. From my memory it's existed for at least 30 years and is a good place for tools, plumbing, electrical and gardening supplies. Some prices might be higher but sometimes they are counteracted by the cost/time of going to larger chain stores. Some tools aren't premium but sufficient to get you by, I also wouldn't expect an independent store to stock expensive items, it wouldn't be cost effective. Staff are helpful and friendly, so long as you are.

I try to go into Jays (Homecraft DIY)every time I?m in Paddock Wood. I?ve been shopping there since 1988. Everyone is so helpful & kind. If they don?t have what I want in stock (which is rare) then they will do their best to source the item for me. Amazing shop. Highly recommend ??? Lorraine Curd From Yalding Kent
