Great food, great service but rather noisy in the restaurant. Not a very good selection of beers and ciders.
Overall a pleasant Sunday roast, although I do object to a service charge being added. It should be up to me to tip as I see appropriate!

My husband and I drove from Southend on sea because we had a great experience a few years ago.
I can honestly say it was well worth the hour and a half drive. Our starters were delicious and we both had the roast dinner which was very tasty. The portion sizes are more than ample.
We would highly recommend the moody mare.

Had a marvellous long lunch here. I've never seen such a big portion of Eton Mess before. Excellent food and great service.

I had lunch steak burger which turned up as a child sized burger and chips .. tasteless chips .
I also had a pea on my plate .. not sure where that came from .

The food was acceptable, the waitress was lovely and helpful but the dreadful reception from front of house (by the miserable, unfriendly & incredibly rude woman) totally ruined our experience. It was like entering an establishment and being poked with a stick for a retaliation. She was disappointed as I refuse to meet someone on such a level. Renamed the Moody mare the grumpy old cow! I shall not return.

We had a table booked for 16 that went up to 20 on the day
we pre ordered the meals and came out very quick. The food was very good indeed especially the mussels the sauce was incredible. Highly recommend this restaurant

Had burger nothing special.
Chips were cold.
Sat in the tipee, which was nice.
They had very loud entertainment in the main bar, which was not my cup of tea

What a nice place. Garden area with covered seating and a small playground for kids. Games available to play as well, and friendly and helpful staff.

An Idyllic Escapade into Culinary Delights!
One simply must paint the scene: imagine, if you will, a quintessentially English countryside pub, its charm already undeniable, but then, behold! A magnificent teepee gracing its verdant gardens, transformed into a veritable fairytale haven. As if such an enchanting tableau weren't enough to utterly captivate the senses, I then cast my gaze upon the menu. I believe, a collective gasp might have escaped me ? for it was a culinary scroll of such exquisite temptations that one yearned to simply order, well, everything!
And so, without a shadow of a doubt, consider this my solemn vow: I shall be returning, time and again, until I have had the distinct pleasure of conquering every last, delectable offering on their extraordinary menu. Chin chin!

Been coming here for years , but I have to say the last couple of times we have been and the same lady on shift has been very rude and not approachable . After speaking to someone else there we found out this same lady is actually a manager ?? I must admit the young lad behind the bar was lovely and I believe the owners were in there too who were friendly , but that is twice now with the same waitress and it really puts us off .
Plus side - lovely garden , good parking and dog friendly
