The Grain Grocer is a great store for those of us focused on a healthy body and a cleaner environment. Great cafe with organic food and their coffee is awesome! I get all my refills here for soap, shampoo, washing detergent, and dish cleaner. Their fresh sauerkraut and kombucha is heavenly! ? I also love that they allow the local human rights group Thanet4Palestine to set up outside. They're a friendly face against a terrible conflict. ?

Unfortunately, their appalling customer service really lets this shop down. I waited 5 mins in the queue to be served purely because the 3 members of staff behind the counter were talking amongst one another. Finally when I was served, I wasn?t greeted, no please, no Thankyou. I wasn?t even told the price I needed to pay. The item was just scanned and the member of staff behind the till just stood there until I paid. Once paid, he completely blanked me, and turned around to the other two members of staff and continued talking to them. I very loudly said how rude they were. That was ignored too. It made me feel I was not welcome in their shop as I didn?t dress or look the same as the staff and all their other customers. I felt belittled and unwanted. WILL NOT RETURN

Since covid none of their stuff is covered and you get people sneezing and coughing over the food placed above counter, staff arent very friendly unless u r a regular either.

Stumbled across The Grain Grocer on Northdown Road, Cliftonville, Margate when collecting a ring from the jewellers across the road. We looked around the well-laid out shop (The Grain Grocer not the jewellers). It?s one of those shops that sells produce loose so you need to bring a container if you can, especially for shampoos, peanut butter and other liquids stuff. The foodstuffs are wide-ranging with lots of an organic fruit and veg. Did I mention, it?s an organic shop and coffee shop. (It serves more than coffee but as the menu is mainly soup and salads, it?s hard to call it a fully-fledged restaurant.) We stayed for a bowl of soup and sourdough bread for lunch. The spicy parsnip soup was out-of-this-world. Homemade and spicy (but not over so) the soup was filling. My wife had to have half of her serving put in a takeaway cup as she couldn?t finish it all at one go. The staff at The Grain Grocer are friendly, helpful and with a sense of humour. They made the day so pleasurable that we?ll be going to The Grain Grocer again.

It's overpriced (£4+ for a tomato), but the real problem is the elitist atmosphere. I feel judged when I go into this shop. Perfect example of gentrification in action. If you're not really posh, you're not really welcome.

We went here on two successive days for lunch, and WOW!What a find in Margate.Well worth the walk up Northdown Road.Great Vegan food, and as it's an actual shop as well as a café, we bought lots of treats to bring back to France with us. The fresh produce looks great too. Everyone there was lovely and friendly. An absolutely delightful place, calm, quiet, and kind!

Sooo many cupboard classics to choose from and weigh. Absolutely love the fact that it's all organic. No waste as you only take what you need, quality goods and there is even a cute cafe at the back. Will be returning!

Stopped in for drinks with the kids when visiting the area. They loved the fresh and creative smoothies and hot cocoa. Wonderful to give them something good for them that they also enjoyed.
