This place deserves its high rating. This morning I was at home making myself some breakfast when it crossed my mind that nothing I make will be able to reach the standard that Forts Café set.
I ordered a flight of coffee, one espresso, one filter and one piccolo, and they came served on a bed of green coffee beans which my brother-in-law mistook for peanuts and instantly regretted his decision. The coffees were delicious and it was a really nice way to try some different coffees.
They adapted for my 5-year-old who insisted he just wanted scrambled egg on toast, though he later changed his mind when he was the french toast my sister-in-law ordered.
I had the veggie scrambled egg option, and it was a delight. The sourdough was soft, springy and full of flavour, the scrambled eggs were creamy and seasoned well, and the watercress salsa was just perfect.
I tried the french toast and it was a delight: the bread was brioche-like and soaked up the fruity flavours from the berries and the lemon mascarpone, plus you also got a small salty crunch surprise from the little bits of pretzel in the dish.
The three-cheese toastie my wife ordered was also lovely. One bite and your mouth was filled with just one big oozy delight, and the caramelised onions added to the flavour.
The servers were all very pleasant and helpful, and it was such a lovely experience. We had to wait 25 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. 10/10 would wait again.

How is this place not Michelin Star? We ordered the scrambled eggs with confit tomatoes, pesto and burnt lemon salad served on a fried Sourdough slice and it was DEVINE! The French Toast is DELICIOUS and the Three Cheese Toastie was AMAZING. On a sleepy Sunday morning this place was busy. 25 mins wait for a table BUT ITS WELL WORTH THE WAIT! We came in from London for a sunny weekend away and I?d come back just for the brunch here! Can?t recommend it enough. Come here to have breakfast/brunch and thank me later.

Nice sea view and the food is excellent. It is not on their menu but they have options for kids which are cheap big and delicious (I ate half of my two year old grilled cheese :))

We visited Fort Cafe while staying in the area and loved it. The coffee was amazing, we even bought their house blend to take home. The French toast was fresh and delicious, and the lemon mascarpone with sugary pretzels was divine. The nduja egg was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Friendly service, not overbearing. Highly recommend!

My new favourite Forts staff member is the lead guitarist in a math rock band who blessed us with royal grade customer service and then my son asked for a hot chocolate at 3.59pm he knocked it without complaint and then just before he handed it over he placed the back of his hand on the side of the cup, for about 10 secs, in silence, we were rapt, before saying ?I was just checking the temp. was good for your son?. It was an incredibly tender moment. Love Forts.

The place is very nice, the service is pleasant, and the coffee is delicious. However, the breakfast was indeed too greasy?everything was swimming in oil. This is one aspect that could be improved.

It?s pricy, nit it?s totally worth it! They splitted Korean chicken sandwich for us and it was enough for two. Kid loved the cheese sandwich as well. And coffee - the best!
