Not impressed at all, 9 of us booked in for Saturday night 23rd March 2024 for 7-30pm-8pm, we were sat at a table directly under a tv and the volume was loud, they did turn it down when asked, there was plenty of room in the restaurant area but we were told there was a party coming in, they didn?t all the time we were there and we left around 10.45pm.Upon ordering we were told that 2 items in the specials board were no longer available and when my husband ordered steak he was told they had run out, how is this possible at 7.45pm????I had the white bait to start and the portion was enormous and they were lovely, we had no complaints on the actual taste of the food but if they were to make the starter portions smaller they could lower the prices, my whitebait could easily have been a main dish as well as my sister in law who ordered the chicken wings (again another starter) but chose to have it as her main, this also was an enormous portion, only one starter was had (me) 9 mains and 3 deserts had, my husband had one scoop of generic vanilla ice cream and it was £2.50 ?? it wasn?t home made it wasn?t Hagen daz it was disgraceful to charge that for one scoop. We spent nigh on £300 which included drinks, 2 large white wines with lemonade, 3 bacardi and cokes, 1 gin and tonic and the rest were cokes, and all agreed we won?t be going back there again.I used to frequent this establishment many yrs ago and it was a great place to go but now looks tired and could do with a revamp.

What a shame a potentially good pub has got a prehistoric , miserable , aggressive , rude moron as an owner ! Ruined a good night with my friends ( who spent a lot of money ) in his establishment . Patronising and unnecessary comments by the old and outdated owner that simply has nothing better to do than complain to the very people making him a living . We will never revisit this place as long as he is in charge , something said by many many others ! Don?t go here if you want to laugh , smile or have a good time , it won?t be allowed !

We ordered the Fish Pie, one of the ?specials?. What arrived looked OK apart from the strange side of whole carrots and nearly cooked sprouts. The challenge was to find the fish amongst the mass of potato and cheese. Eventually I did find a small amount including one prawn. The taste could only be described as ?bland? - probably due to all those potatoes. All this for £18.95! Plus two glasses of Chardonnay for only £19. The venue itself is stunning but the Fish Pie and exhorbitant prices seriously let it down.

Staff very accommodating especially as we arrived late. Food generally good and the lamb shank was top notch. A discretionary service charge will be added that is not advertised on the menus.

So many cockups , wrong drinks, mistakes with food . Small portions on some items, all were corrected and prices adjusted on final bill. Then put a £15 service charge on Which we did not pay. Definitely more staff training needed.

Lovely food. Great service. My friend and I were catered for in a special request. Plenty of choice. We both had a fabulous meal. Pricey, but I everything thing is these days! Would fully recommend.Vegetarian options: Plenty of choice

Lovely little pub, very warm and cosy inside. Staff are always friendly when we go regardless of time of day.We both had burgers, but one was OK the other seemed very onion'y.I would go back, not sure if I'd want to eat here again thought.

Lovely friendly attentive staff, warm pub ambience, overpriced average food very well presented. Basically £20 main,£10 desert including gratuity. Didn't try the light bites so unable to comment. Basically enjoyed our visit, however probably wouldn't revisit the main meal menu if we return

Hadn?t been here for years due to the abrupt manner of and lack of customer service from the landlady. The food however was very good with emphasis on fresh fish. Returning this month the pub was looking tired and the blackboard of specials and Sunday roasts messy and tatty. We were welcomed by young friendly staff and advised of items not available-this sadly included two of the three white wines available by the glass. We were advised that the wine list contained some ?inaccuracies ? which turned out to be the prices! We were told there had been no time to change the prices( the place was virtually empty at that time alone) . We told the waiter he had to charge us the price listed to which he replied ? I can?t do that I?m afraid?. The increase was not much but it was the principle. We did buy a couple of glasses ( as we were celebrating different bits of news) but the ? discretionary service charge ? was not added and we simply rounded up the cost as we felt it was not the waiter?s doing. If he is the owner he has committed a criminal offence. The food was mixed in quality but I will certainly not be returning for obvious reasons.
