On first impressions, this is a small but very nice looking village pub, the staff are very friendly and welcoming however the service was very slow considering it was a Monday evening with only one person waiting the tables, I ordered the Parsnip soup which when it came out was delicious but luke warm, I had higher expectations for my main meal which was the braised beef short rib in A balsamic glaze, unfortunately again the meal was luke warm and the balsamic glaze was too much which over powered the whole dish otherwise the beef rib was very soft and tender but the taste was not there because of the glaze. The dessert was the best part of the meal, there was 6 people in our party and everyone's meal was bordering on the cold side. 10% was added to our bill which I paid as the staff were excellent however if your going to charge that, then the service and food needs to improve in my opinion. The menu on the website is not the menu we was given in the restaurant it's totally different.

Food & drinks: Awful Sunday roast. The gravy was over reduced and extremely salty. I had the mixed lamb and beef roast but no idea what the meat was like as it was drowned in this salty tar like gravy. There was a very small tangle of over cooked veg underneath. The roast potatoes were OK but for £25 I?d expect a lot more. I mentioned to the server that the gravy was far too salty but nothing was said or done about it. Really very disappointing. Desserts were good, though.

Went with a party of twelve on Saturday night. My seabass was very nice but those who had steak were all in agreement, the steaks were tough with one party member unable to eat her's at all.

We all three had a roast on Mother's day. It was just what I expected: big Yorkshires, delicious gravy, perfectly cooked meat and al dente veg. The service was super, staff always had a smile on their face and were attentive.

The food was disappointing, I send my nut roast back because it was burnt. Apparently it was burnt because of the glaze? By the time it was replaced everyone else had eaten their meals. The glazed sides of honey roast carrots and parsnips were cut up into tiny segments.Only one vegan option &, the portion size was tiny, a pastry serviced with one floret of broccoli. Disappointed visit on Mother?s Day.

Had a fantastic lunch today. Perfectly seasoned parsnip & leek soup. Chicken Supreme with mashed potato, again perfect. Mum had mussels for starter and they were delicately flavoured & husband's fish & chips were epic.Atmosphere was welcoming & service was excellent.
