This is a great, privately owned, traditional old country pub with lovely decor and friendly staff. I've been in a LOT of pubs in my time and this one is right up there and strikes a great balance between feeling nice and cosy and welcoming with character but also being well lit and clean. Great selection of ales and lagers and the food is very nice - not the cheapest but to be fair it is good value as the food is really good quality.
There are regular themed evenings and the management are always working hard to offer customers a great experience.
This weekend we brought our two teenage kids for Sunday lunch for the first time and really enjoyed it. The fire was lit, there were other people in the restaurant but not too busy, atmosphere was nice. Everything was well cooked, decent portions, the roast beef was lovely, service was spot on - pretty much everything you want really.
I love this pub and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone - get yourself in there for at least a pint but ideally some food too!

Last year, this was quite a special place. But, in my last two visits the quality of the food and the service has been disappointing. It?s not bad, it?s just very average.
I hope the place returns to the previous standard as the interior of the pub is great, but the the food and the service leaves you wanting.

Great village pub.
We were a family group of 5 and had an excellent meal. The The starters were well received and the Ceasar Salad was notable as it was ginormous and very tasty. The puddings were OK but not particularly exciting.

Absolutely lovely roasts.
Chicken Supreme / Beef tenderloin / Pork Belly (£18.90) was very lovely cooked, nice and crunchy crackling and a sensible portion.
Garlic butter seared tender stem brocoli. Ovened mini-carrots very tasty. Potatoes were sufficient and average for a pub. Lovely gravy (which is "bottomless")
Cauliflower cheese would have been £4 extra. (Which is cheeky when already paying best part of 20 quid for a roast which is one of the more cost effective dishes to produce).
Interesting concise selection of starters.
The venue is marvellously decorated in a traditional yet not old fashioned style.
2x dining rooms each with about 30 seats.
Garden is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained with sections and a BBQ area.
Staff are wonderful... super friendly and attentive.
Parking: Parking in church carpark next door.

A hidden gem, off the beaten track. Idyllic setting, next to the church. Stylishly modernised interior. Limited menu of pub staples but well cooked and presented with generous portions. Pleasant garden. Friendly staff. Small car park but there is more parking in the spacious church car park just along the road.
Vegetarian options: Menu is limited but there were a couple of vegetarian options.
Parking: Pub has a small car park but there is a more spacious church car park just along the road.
