Excellent

We had a lovely Bank Holiday Monday lunch at The Tickled Trout in Ashford. The setting is beautiful, with kids and dogs enjoying a splash in the river, and plenty of shade to relax under from the sun. It?s a really welcoming spot with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families. A great place to enjoy good food in a picturesque location ? we?ll definitely be back.

We were a group of nine who had been ?shoehorned? into the lower restaurant. I was last to be seated and sat opposite my wife. I was ?told? to move to the other end of the table, as an additional chair was to be placed on a table behind me. The person doing ?the telling? seemed to be either the landlady or the restaurant manager. I politely told her on two occasions, that I preferred to sit where I was, but out of my hearing, she stomped off with the words ?how rude?, heard by my wife and friends. The situation was easily resolved by my friends and I, who just moved up one place. Simple! Ironically, all this took place beneath the management?s framed mission statement, which promises ?to make every customer feel welcome?. The remainder of the younger staff were excellent, friendly, cheerful and accommodating. The meals were delicious and our group?s second visit to this pub was enjoyable, in spite of a poor start.

Incredibly poor food. My partner had a chicken wrap which was a slice of processed chicken you get from the supermarket with a sloppy piece of lettuce and I had a Greek skewer which was chewy and undercooked, absolutely ludicrous for £80 and not the mention the £3.50 they charge for soda and lime! Not sure how they have the front to charge those prices for that quality of food? Looks like we aren?t the only ones to complain in recent months?
Think it has changed ownership - very dirty around the garden and the toilets, well, your feet stick to the floor with all the urine.
Won?t be back.

This is honesty one of the best pubs I?ve been to. We?ve been here a few times now and the staff are always wonderful and the food is always delicious. The atmosphere is warm and charming. We went this time for my partner?s birthday meal and Amy, Nastya and Molly were so helpful, especially with bringing out his cake at the end of the evening and really made the meal special. Thank you so much!

Fabulous anniversary lunch. Service, food and setting were all first class

Went into the pub today to celebrate 3 birthdays. It was really hot and the lovely waitress went out of her way to help get an elderly member of the family out of the sun. Waitress were all lovely. But there was one member of staff slightly older wearing a white dress that was extremely rude. Luckily the rest of the staff didn't disappoint so I let it slide.
If we were not so pleased with the rest of our service I would have complained as we spent a lot of money on food and drink which we didn't mind as our food was lovely, and the rest of the staff went above and beyond ,

Had booked a table for food at 20:00. Turned up at 19:50 to then straight away be told the kitchen shuts at 20:00. Without even being shown to a table. The whole group of 7 then all looked at each other confused. I told the lady that we had booked a table for 20:00 so why let us book if you shut the kitchen at 20:00 and tell us that immediately on arrival. We then get told this again on our way to the bar to order which we felt quite rushed to do. Although it does state on the menu, which I noticed after ordering, a 10% service charge will be added to the bill. Which I do not agree with as you have to go to the bar to order your food and drink. The only service you get is them bringing your food from the kitchen to the table. Which surely should be in the overhead of the restaurant? Also very pricey for the food on offer. The food was tasty but just very pricey.

Location amazing food brilliant service beyond bad. Apparently it's illegal to smile or talk to a customer. It's also frowned upon to check on your tables to make sure everything was OK. I understand it's a very busy place but it takes seconds to say hello. It's not cheap to eat or drink there so I expect a certain level of service. If you dont want to be a server then dont work there.

Delicious food and beautiful pub garden by the river. Great service.

I wouldn?t recommend eating here, extremely overpriced (London price but not London quality) for average quality food. My partner?s roast was tiny for over £25? not good enough. My burger was ok but it was nothing special for £19? just stick with drinks at this pub. Service was ok but clearly overworked and it felt a bit chaotic. Otherwise great atmosphere in the pub garden in the summer!

We had a lovely Summer family meal for 4 in the garden along the river. The menu was varied and the food was quick to the table with friendly service. There were children and dogs paddling in the water and had a nice atmosphere. One of the best pubs I?ve been to.

Lovely terrace next to the little river. Nice food options, also vegetarian and vegan options. We both had the halloumi burger, which came with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. It tasted great and was more than enough. They also have a lot of beers and other drinks.
The only thing I find a bit weird is that a 10% service fee is added to the bill, while you have to order inside and grab your own cutlery. Basically the only service is the plates being brought to your table.
But apart from that, it?s a very nice place!
