It's obvious on reading the previous reviews, and from our own personal experience on Sunday 24th March, that this place is struggling with the basic training of staff and maintaining a good level of customer service. We actually also visited on the day that the Coffee machine was "Broken". We were ushered from our seats (that our 2 children were sitting on bored) over to the "Restaurant" area, and made to wait. We were then greeted by a woman who was very rude, and as the previous post stated, the card machine was slammed on the table. Getting a "Good Morning" or a "Thank-You" was obviously not on the agenda.Yesterday (24th March), once again, no Brown sugar for our Luke warm Latte's, and our adult son, "dared" to go over to the restaurant area, to look for some. He was told off by a member of staff, for "not being allowed" into the area, despite asking for Brown sugar. No polite, " Can I help you Sir" or " I am sorry, we have run out" , just blatant rudeness. So today is a message to the senior management at Dobbies.Get some Brown sugar PLEASE. I am sure I am not alone, in liking it in my coffee.Treat everyone that walks through the door, with the respect that they deserve. We ARE the customers, and WE are the most important people in the shop.Inform your staff, that being polite isn't a chore, it's part of a customer facing role.I really look forward to your reply, and I am available, once given notice, to come in a speak directly to any member of the management team regarding this frank and honest review.

Staff seem to lack an understanding of customer service, a very unhelpful demeanour from everyone we spoke to. Be careful which cake plate you select, they looked like they had be shoved through the dishwasher all stacked up as many had remnants of scrambled egg and jam on them. The cutlery was also a bit sketchy.

Restaurant this afternoon was dirty with uncleared tables despite me asking twice for someone to attend to this. We were there for 40 minutes at an unwiped table surrounded by food debris and trays. This is unacceptable and we will consider very carefully before returning

decided to have our two free coffees on today Tuesday 19th, as we are members?.. Gave up as que was so very long. We have queued for at least twenty minutes in the past, and this has not improved. We appreciate staff are doing their best, but this is not acceptable for the elderly to stand for such a long period of time. We do think that the restaurant and coffee bar should have an increase in staff? Considering cancelling both of our memberships if this does not improve?.

A long queue to get in what seemed a quiet restaurant, older man that showed us to seats was friendly. Ordered food and drinks after 15 minutes of getting to table, then had a card machine slammed on the table to pay prior (not a problem, but worth just talking to the guest and explaining that). Got the food (a fairly small lunch menu was on offer, mostly sandwiches). Which was missing chips, didn?t speak to any of the team after as didn?t get chance. Definitely wouldn?t return in the nicest way possible. Sadly, not even a goodbye on the way out.

Tried to have lunch there today.Waited in a queue to be seated, while looking at a half empty restaurant. After about 10 minutes and only one couple in the queue having been seated we just grabbed some menus and went to an empty table. We were told we were in the coffee only section and we must wait in the queue for someone to seat us at a food table.Went to the back of the queue again which was now about 10 deep. Waited about another 5 minutes and srill only one one couple had been seated. The people in front of us gave up and left. We followed them, then went to the McDonalds next door!

Good selection of deasonal plants and gardening equipment on offer, lots of other things to look at, everything from little Waitrose to home decor to a new coat, nice coffee shop, reasonable value. Recommend joining their club, great discounts on lots of stuff including the cafe.

Went to lunch in Dobbies, it was really busy and v low on staff so a long wait. They had no vegan soup despite having 3 options, no vegan sandwiches and one vegan toastie offered. The only other vegan food was a jacket potato with beans, and vegan sausage and chips. Having ordered the vegan toastie x 2 and waiting another 20 mins we were told that they had no vegan toasties ?.. really?. Come on Dobbies, get into the 21st century although a bit late. Give vegans a choice. Left. Dobbies hungry, wouldn?t bother again ?
