Visited last summer from the USA with my English partner, whose family came from East Peckham.
They owned the shop/pub in the late 1800s/early 1900s and we have a photo of them standing outside .
We were sad to hear that it closed ,but now pleased it has reopened. We will be visiting again in the Summer.
The family name was Clapson.

Thank you to Millie & Jamie for hoisting my dad’s wake this week. Wonderful food and location. They were so attentive to our needs and made such a heartfelt day go with no worries or concerns. We wish them well in the future at The Man of Kent. X

Attended a private function at the beautiful pub. Staff were so kind and thoughtful at a sensitive time. Food was exceptional and such a wonderful variety, catering for everyone.
Truly could not fault it.
To note this is a beautiful old pub so ceiling levels are definitely on the low side but it adds to the charm of the pub.
Will definitely be returning.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here. The portion sizes were fantastic and all the food was cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our first time visiting The man of Kent and we were happy to find this little gem close to where we live. Will defintiely be returning very soon! 😊

Saturday afternoon drinks and food were excellent.
My daughter loved her seafood linguine, it was exceptional. She can be fussy when it comes to food, but she gave it a 10/10.
We had some of the Tapas options, enjoyed the Garlic and Padron peppers too. Great afternoon sitting by the river. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you all at the
MOK.

Very disappointing service today. Booked a birthday lunch for my husband and children. Turned up on time to a notice saying kitchen closed due to gas issues. I left my number when I made the booking. A call prior would have been appreciated.
To reply to the owners comment below. Absolutely no call was made. Staff on the day said there was no number to call and that’s why the message was not communicated. Again not true as I had left my number. Very poor communication and dishonesty.

went to this pub to watch the live band with some mates, had some random stand in my way purposefully after asking him politely to move, his mrs had to move him as he refused, i left it alone.
My mates and I ended up going to the garden area to watch the live band, however i noticed this same lad had been eyeing me from across the garden, and then came over to me and said “let’s go”, i followed him to the exit, the bouncer then intervened and told us to go back to our tables, i then noticed him staring me down again and as one would, stared back at him, the bouncer then told me to leave as he “caught me staring at him”.
Absolutely disgraceful, grow up lads

Loved this little pub. It must be the pub with the lowest ceilings I have ever been in but we loved it. Well worth a visit. We didn't eat as had alreadyade arrangements
