I wanted to give no stars. This branch of Jewson is the worst I have dealt with. Ordered a wood chipper on line on a Wednesday, e-mail says they will ring you to say they are processing your request. Thursday Martin rang to say that I couldn't have one for the weekend as per request, as their two chippers were out on hire, but would ring me back on Monday when they have been returned and serviced so that I could hire it for Monday and Tuesday. I had to ring them and Martin assured me it would be ready for Tuesday as there was no delivery driver Wednesday, Thursday, Friday as he was on annual leave ( no other driver able to deliver??). Again I had to ring Tuesday morning, only for Martin to say yes it would be delivered that day. By 3pm still not heard anything so I had to ring yet again only for Martin to say yes, the delivery driver had returned to Dover and we were his next delivery. I asked about paying for the deposit and he assured me someone would ring and get the deposit over the phone on a secure line. 5 pm came and went, I'm still holding on to the idea the chipper might arrive that evening. Nothing. Today is now Thursday and no explanation. This is very poor customer service. Martin should have just said that there wasn't one available instead of lying to me.

Question.... If you are an older customer, do you deliberately get messed around and receive extremely poor service from the Dover Branch. Order never arrived today as planned and when queried why and when next to expect a delivery, response was "no idea".

4/5 stars during the week, but definitely 1 if you go on a Saturday morning. During the week, the service is great: people are very helpful, show you what you need to get and give good advice. I'm working on a project at the moment and might not have got it done without the advice I received here. Top service. However, sometimes I have to go on a Saturday morning and the experience is completely different. The people working inside hardly know how to work the computers, so simply buying something from the shelf can be a complicated procedure. Outside, staff vaguely point you in the right direction for the item you're after and then disappear. Definitely worth a trip Monday to Friday, but shop elsewhere if you need something on a Saturday.

The most expensive Builders Merchant in the UK. 2 weeks hire belle mixer £242.87. They are £320 brand new out of Machine Mart. Will not be using ever again, walked out of one in Croydon 8 years ago when told double seal inspection cover £175.00 elsewhere £45.00. Liberty takers!
