We stayed at the Six Bells the night before my wedding. The first night we went for dinner and although it took a long time for the food to come out (just over an hour), the food was tasty and the staff were lovely.
The rooms were nice but the beds were not very comfortable and the mugs were dirty.
But the real disappointment was the following morning. The staff had offered to take my wedding cake the night before and store it in their fridge which we thought was very kind. We informed them that we would need it by 7:30am which they said they would check and let us know if there were any problems with that. We didn't hear back so assumed it was all OK. The next morning at 7:30am, there were no staff members in sight. We waiting until 7:45am and wondered if we were perhaps expected to get it ourselves. We tried the kitchen door which was open, so walked inside and it set off the alarm. At 7:57 a staff member showed up and to say she was rude was an understatement! She told us off for setting off the alarm, to which we apologized and said we thought we could get the cake ourselves as we were told it would be fine to collect at 7:30am and there was no one there. She got out her work group chat to show proof that she put in the chat she started at 8am to which we told her we obviously were not in her group chat, and were told 7:30 would be fine. She grumpily got the cake and condensendingly dismissed the help my sister offered. She knew it was for my wedding, didn't apologize, didn't wish me a nice wedding, and made us 30 minutes late. This staff member needs some serious customer service training!

Iv stayed at the six bells pub a couple days now for work, the rooms are spacious and lovely decorated, stocked up with everything you need. The pub itself is a lovely atmosphere with lovely staff and customers, very welcoming and the food is good value for the money, very filling and delicious. The staff dont fail to give you the best service, especially a barmaid named bliss who was attempting to give us the best entertainment of her karaoke, but overall very lovely and polite girl who couldn?t have done enough for us, highly recommend this pub to stay, eat or drink.

Perfect stay to attend a wedding at Cooling Castle Barn. Family room was great for our needs, clean and comfy. Hassle free handy lift there and back by Gavin and we were made to feel very welcome by Kayleigh. The breakfast was amazing. (Included in the stay). Thinking of returning just for the food another time.

Great pub in Cliffe, perfect stay for anyone going to Coolings Barn for a function, Gavin the owner runs a shuttle service for his guests staying in the 6 Bells Great staff in pub, Kayleigh was good host. The rooms are very clean, comfy beds, and they do a great breakfast for your hangovers the next day. Would definitely recommend this place also plenty of parking for free.

I didn?t stay here, so I can?t comment on the rooms. However, the service is excellent, though the wait for food / food preparation did take some time. This isn't a major issue since the food is fresh.
My experience was mixed. On one weekend night, the food was outstanding?generous portions and freshly made.
However, when I returned, I was disappointed. The portions had noticeably shrunk, and even the proper tea mugs were reduced to just a pathetic glass / sip horrible cups. It feels like there may have been a different chef during lunchtime.
I plan to return in the summer when I visit the RSPB Cliffe Pools, and I will provide an updated review then.
