"Lovely bookshop , large area of children's books and products." There was only one problem: it was not a good atmosphere, the noise was too much and it was too crowded

Spacious, varied book shop, with a lovely café. Top floor is nearly always empty if you need some peace and quiet. Despite being a chain I highly recommend this shop, and ordering books through them is painless (and they turn up in perfect condition, unlike the other company - with many vans - that seem to delight in creasing books or knocking the corners flat.)

Lovely comfortable chairs to sit and meditate on your book choices. Helpful charming assistant!

Three floors of books and a coffee shop. Probably one of the best Waterstones I've been too. Sci-fi section is actually 6-7m wide! Impressive compared to what's normally available in others I've been to. Plenty of staff and always very helpful.

Absolutely Awful Experience in the Cafe.I thought the Cafe was there for customers to enjoy while perusing a book, offering reasonable prices and good customer service. How, wrong could I be?I happen to have a personal preference for very strong tea, which I am always happy to inform the establishments that I visit. I ordered a pot of tea for one and asked for an extra tea bag. Every single cafe/restaurant that I have visited in over 50 years have always been happy to oblige. The unsmiling lady serving me simpy repied " our tea bags are strong, so you can just leave it in longer" - I politely replied that would not be strong enough for me and could I just have an extra tea bag popped in ?She turned and asked another unsmiling lady who was wearing a Christmas hat ( was this supposed to give off friendly Christmas cheer as it certainly did not, more like the staff needed to go the Dickens corner and look up the meaning of Scrooge)To my utter disbelief this lady with the Christmas Hat that was not full of Christmas cheer whispered to her colleague that I would have to pay the full price for another pot of tea.I intervened and said " are you saying that you expect me to pay for two pots of tea, just because I asked for an extra tea bag?She replied, "yes".Ar this point, I simply said "you have put me off" (it actually made me feel quite sick ) and I walked away to a far seat to wait for my family who were supposed to join me for tea.I noticed the staff kept looking at me and on leaving I decided to make a complaint. I spoke to a member of staff downstairs who, sent me over to the Cafe Manager, who happened to be one of the staff members who were staring at me upstairs. Strange, how he came downstairs at the same time as me.I explained the situation to him, expecting some sort of professional customer service - when he proceeded to agree with the Christmas hat lady and said it was to do with stock levels !!!!We are talking about one tea bag here, which I am sure the staff will use when they require a drink.I would have been happy to pay a supplement (even though, I never have before) but to be told I had to pay for two pots of tea because I asked for an extra tea bag is outright robbery. My whole family visit this store when in Canterbury and it has completely put us off from visiting again. The Cafe should be renamed the "Grinch",The staff need more training in how to talk to their customers and cater to their specific needs instread of making faces and they need to think outside of the box - we are talking about one tea bag here,I still intend to make a formal complaint when I have more time as the Manager would not budge in his petty attitude.

Heel veel boeken, maar het was ook extra druk. Er is wel een kleine tea room op de eerste verdieping, zodat je even kan pauzeren. Deze winkel staat steevast op onze lijst als we in Canterbury zijn. Een aanrader.

The shop is spread over 3 floors. Small cafe. Some titles I thought would be in stock had to be ordered.

Wonderful book's world! What's precious is that they have space for kids to play there. The only one disadvantage is a higher price (for example, for the books).Generally speaking,it's a very good shop with great choice.

Fab cafe... the best Flat White I've had in ages. Also, the young lady who served me was extremely friendly. Enjoyed browsing books too. A lovely visit.

Went to a friends book signing. Great staff and a wonderful selection of books. What more do you want from a bookshop.

My son and I love Canterbury Waterstones. Spread over three floors, it has a relaxing atmosphere with a cafe on the 2nd floor and a cosy nook with a playable chess set on the 3rd. There is an elevator so it's accessible to all. The staff in the children's department are always really friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. It also hosts fantastic author events which are really worth a visit. The wall signed by famous authors is a lot of fun too.
