Great location, lovely and very attentive staff (even with French people whose English is not "fluent"). Price more than fair knowing that it includes breakfasts and parking on site. The only downside: the rooms could do with a little restoration (safe in the room blocked and beeping continuously, shower head leaking, heating a little light, especially for the bathroom) and the cleaning services households (bed remade "on the surface" but not what serves as a fitted sheet, trash forgotten in the middle of the room).Despite these very small inconveniences, a very pleasant 4-day stay in a very pretty setting and an ideal location for discovering the city center on foot.

Two night stay November 2023.Room service stole expensive eye cream from our room.Tried to resolve this issue with management but no joy hence the review. My advice. If staying more than one night watch your valuables. If want parking at the hotel you must be early otherwise council car park next door. Apart from that it was very convenient for us.

A beautiful hotel with lots of character due to it's age which is great, to many people want old hotels, or pubs modernised but it's nice to see these places still going, if people want modern go find modern hotels. Plenty of beautiful features in the room like the old open fire (no long working) the cubboreds instead of wardrobes, the wooden boards on the wall, OK not varnished but a stunning feature and this is also shown throughout the hotel,It's also very clean and tidy, and everything in the room is well stocked,.The staff are friendly and helpful, and even told me about the history of the hotel.Nearby activities: There is plenty to see around Canterbury, and the cathedral is a short walk away, you are sure to be kept busy on sightseeing if that's what you like. They even supply a map at the hotelFood & drinks: The breakfast is continental, and is superb quality, with pastries, cerials, fruit cheese and meat,Noteworthy details: At the time of our visit the castle opposite the hotel was having work done to it, they did say next year it should be reopen to visitors., we could see castle over the road,

Perfectly located for the city centre and cathedral. Parking onsite but apparently if not they have permits available for the carpark next door (not sure if they are free)The room we were in was lovely and overlooked the ruins of the Norman castle.Breakfast is continental and there is plenty of it.The staff are great, very friendly.

Zeker niet luxe, maar prima plek om te overnachten om naar Dover/Calais te gaan. Eigen parkeerplaats dus je hoeft je auto niet leeg te halen. Vlakbij prachtige centrum.

I would call this an over priced bed and breakfast not a hotel. Plus = free parking and easy walking into city. We were in a large family room which was light but the hotel is on a busy roundabout so noisy with the window open. Shower had plenty of hot water. Now the negatives! Entering the building the reception desk is so high it's difficult to tell if anyone is behind it. Only a poor continental breakfast. Breakfast room is small and one table is almost in the doorway so constantly leaning from one side or the other enabling other people to pass. Little evidence of staff and noticed one family had to clear their table as no member of staff available. No fresh fruit only tinned, only full fat yoghurts. Cereal came in small boxes and limited choice. Had to ask for toast and think they use the cheapest bread they can find. Paintwork needs redoing as very chipped and an odd assortment of pictures. Not a happy experience

Generally quite a disappointing stay. I will start with the good; the location and building are very nice however that is where the positives end. The furnishings and facilities are pretty tired, there seems to be a lack of real effort from the owners to provide a really nice stay for their guests and this has definitely filtered down to the staff as well. There is a distinct lack of warmth from the staff currently employed with no attempt or effort from them to make us feel welcomed at any part of our stay. The hairdryer provided in our room did not work in any of the plug sockets unless it was held or wedged in with another object / person. The attitude of the reception staff when I requested another hair dryer was quite frankly appalling. The staff were incredibly accusatory and more fixated on proving a point that the hair dryer was functional after they tested it. I went to back to my room after being told to try it again for it not to work again in our room. I then went back to the reception to let them know it still wasn't working. The girl on reception then left the desk and I could audibly register someone else saying 'what is he complaining for it is working'. Needless to say the hair dryer did not work in our room, maybe an issue with the plug sockets but absolutely disgusting attitude from the staff. This could be a really nice place to stay but the owners need to listen to other reviews that echo what I am saying and invest into some modernisation.

Our room was lovely and comfortable (overlooking the roundabout & garden). Continental breakfast had so many options. There location is perfect for new visitors - easy to get to, onsite parking - and most of all, you are just a few minutes of walking from the city centre and it's shopping, attractions, museums, etc. Couldn't have chosen better a better place to stay in Canterbury

The best thing about this hotel was the location - couldn?t fault it. Unfortunately, there were lots of aspects of the hotel that we felt just weren?t ok for somewhere charging these prices. The main issue was the staff, from the moment we arrived, it was clear that most were disinterested in their job. We were disappointed to find that the breakfast was continental only (not something made clear on Booking.com). We asked for toast, they asked what kind we?d like and we said white. When it didn?t come we asked again and they said there was no white. Which is fine, but the same happened the following morning too. The hairdryer didn?t work in our room. My partner went to reception for them to plug it in (it worked), and hand it back to him saying it was fine. We tried again in our room, it didn?t work in any of the sockets. He went back and overheard the manager saying ?what?s he complaining for - it works!? We were then advised to not ?wave it around? or ?use a brush to style with.? The only way we could get it to work was if he held the plug into the wall while I used it.. and then it became incredibly hot after 30 seconds. I don?t understand the stand-off attitude and why we couldn?t be given a different hairdryer - it clearly was faulty and they knew it. The room we were in was large but with only one small window (and the smallest tv I?ve ever seen!) I echo what another reviewer says - in the night it was SO hot I couldn?t breathe. Awful ventilation. We also had a drippy tap and the bathroom door only shut when slammed. When we left, the staff were sat having breakfast and didn?t even come over to the reception to take the keys or ask how our stay had been. Overall I feel that this hotel was once probably lovely, however maybe the owners have stepped back a bit and the people they've left to run it just don?t really care. It?s also very interesting how the hotel has no presence on this page - not even to acknowledge reviews, let alone reply. Says a lot!

On the plus side the beds were comfy in the family room and the hotel itself is in a good location. However we did find faults with the room, the bathroom was not clean and the dripping tap kept us awake at night. The hairdryer provided did not have a long enough lead to reach the mirror so quite hard to dry our hair. The wardrobe hinges were squeaky. Looking back at other reviews of this hotel issues that had been raised the previous month about this specific room had not been addressed. At the hotel bar there was no ice on both nights that we stayed and no slices of lemon/lime in bar. On the second day there was no brown bread available for breakfast. All in all we were disappointed with this hotel. The staff were helpful but the hotel is tired and needs some TLC.
