This was the first restaurant/bar I've visited in Canterbury - and it definitely set high expectations for the others.
The vibe is right, the service is good and it's clean. Not to mention the outstanding food! And it isn't even too pricey, even as a student. The price for the food totally pays off.
Ate and left no crumbs.

Love regional ales? Love the traditional pub and atmosphere. No need to book in advance (if not too crowd) here is a pleasant place to enjoy in Canterbury. Cool outdoor seats with tentindoor style. Food is good quality but takes longer a little bit so do not let yourself to be too hungry before arriving here?

The name is likely the most memorable thing about this pub. Comfortable but non-descript. A mix of more traditional decor with some obligatory massive televisions for the current football match. Cash, credit card and probably e-wallet payments accepted.
Bar service as well as an additional seating area in the rear with a large screen TV. Plenty of local beer and cider on tap, in addition to a full bar. Service is friendly and relatively quick. Food is fairly standard pub fare. The sharing platter has fried chicken, onion rings, jalapeno poppers. The goat cheese burger is literally that - not a cheese burger but rather a patty made entirely out of goat cheese. Fish and chips is massive but can be a bit on the dry side.
Noise levels are reasonable depending on how invested in the game folks are.

Brilliant staff. Brilliant food. Brilliant pub. Thank you for being so accommodating for a late large booking of food. Everything ran perfectly.

subpar customer service and response when we sent back pints that were flat and warm. We had the same brew in a different pub and it was perfectly fine but bartenders insisted they were meant to be flat. Wouldn?t recommend if this is their normal attitude towards customers.

Great pub for watching sport especially football. Bar staff always efficient. Food good. Big outdoor area at back of pub. Tables in front of the pub are a suntrap in Summer. It was better when Steve (Man Utd fan) was the manager.

Lovely old pub just beyond the westgate towers. Had a lovely meal of fish and chips and shin beef pie and chips. Both cooked great. Ate early on so atmosphere a little quiet but thats not a complaint, just an observation. Staff interactions all positive and warm. Would recommend.
