I am a foreigner and my English is not very good, I came offline for help as I had problems transferring a large amount of money on the app, I was greeted by a very gentle and patient lady with long straight hair who helped me log into the app and helped me pay my rent successfully, She was the most patien and helpful bank staff I have ever come across in the UK, unfortunately I didn't ask her name or see her name tag, if this lady can read this review I would like to thank you again, you made my day.

I am writing today to highlight the steps that are required when one tries to open a new bank account in Barclays as a foreigner coming to UK as a skilled worker especially in NHS.The steps are as follows:1. Download the Barclays app and select "I am new to Barclays " and then go through all the necessary steps. It will be convenient to use BRP while opening the account as it is more acceptable in the bank.2. The bank will need to verify the documents so a message will appear which will ask to verify the required documents in-person at a nearby branch .3. Required documents usually include: BRP and a proof of address. Proof of address is the tricky document here which needs to have the following points included:- full name- full address of current residence- the letter needs to be in a headed paper- the letter must be addressed to Barclays- the contract needs to be for a minimum of 1 year or needs to mention that the employee is "permanently " employed.4. Before going to verify identity documents, a reference number will appear in app and through that, the bank will ask to book an appointment. Please book an appointment in advance. Without an appointment, the bank will not proceed to do identity check.5. Once the above documents will be ready, the account opening will be smooth .I hope this writing helps those who are eager to open their first UK bank account in Barclays. Thank you ?

A total unhelpful staff to have no comucation and when you require cash one say no problem next day you can only get half if that, no point in speaking to the manager as he would smile . As they do not care in one moment as no one gives a damm. Electronic tills card not cash a typical unhelpful world. One star is too much. Will write to bank as it impossible to get them via the link supplied after the review answers

I remember three years ago, when my mother died, the helpfulness and care with which the adviser dealt with my mother?s affairs and my grief. My sister closed her Barclays accounts when she went to NZ last year, leaving some money in them. She is currently holidaying with me in Canterbury. I have been to Barclays Canterbury twice in the past 10 days and on both occasions met with Sonia Gee. I cannot praise her enough. Kind, clear and very competent in sorting it all out. My sister was very confused, I?m a bit better at these things so went along to advocate for her. Sonia clearly assessed what was going on, focussed on my sister whilst explaining the process to me and was so very organised and efficient. We live in a horrible world atm so turning up today in miserable weather, with my anxious sister I was very pleased to find a great example of what good people do. I?m so grateful to her and hope that her managers see this review. She is the epitome of professional care and communication. Thanks so much Sonia. Leigh Derbyshire x

Cannot pay coins into my business account on a Saturday. Only in the week. When I'm working. Queue was out the door. Appalling service. I pay for this too.

I have heard people are more than easy access to people banking details with the customers that bank with Barclays. Nevertheless it looks like a great service , easy access to your funding via the application like other banks, and financial services are on point. Maybe people just lack intuition and decide to give their details out too much. Hopefully they sort your problems which they will if you have ever come across them. All round 5 stars. Reuben Simmons

Iam extremely disheartened with the service available from Barclays. Having been a business customer for over forty years I have never known it to be as bad. Phil Missey Building Services Ltd. My business is threatened with closure and I cannot get hold of anybody to talk to. Promised a call back after 90 mins but no it didnt happen. Director Phjilip Missey

The reason I have given 4 stars is because when my husband and I walked in and said that we wanted some paying in slips the lady that greeted us was very offhand and said ? we don?t do those anymore, but if you want to see someone then wait?Well, we weren?t busy and spotted a young man who immediately said ? How can I help you? ???.much better! He was so helpful and spent a good 10 minutes with us sorting out paying in slips and ordering another card for us. He was brilliant.

It has recently come to my attention that Barclays pledged to go net zero by 2050 during the Paris agreement in December 2015, since then they have spent over £104 billion on fossil fuel investments ? more than any other single bank in the whole of Europe and No.7 in the world. These are not rankings to be proud of during an increasingly catastrophic climate cataclysm!Barclays (an otherwise perfectly good and reputable high street bank) are doing the entire world an injustice with their unethical investments and hollow lies to customers. Whilst the company executives line their own dirty pockets, their integrity diminishes daily.Mining for coal, drilling for oil, gas, tar sands projects, clearing forests, funding militias with arms and violating human rights through their direct investment funding is quite frankly disgusting operations from a London City originated British Bank - James Barclays would be sickened.I have banked with Barclays now for over two decades, with my first ever current account as a teenager and now several credit accounts and ISAs. After Barclays clear lack of conscious effort to even remotely reduce their environmental impact, I can confidently say I will be emptying my accounts and switching to a more ethical and genuinely green focused banking provider immediately. My money is clean and my conscious clear. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and International Energy Agency (IEA) 2021 reports have made it clear: to avert climate catastrophe, we must stop engaging in any new fossil fuel projects IMMEDIATELY - not in 5, 10, 20 or 30 years? time?No more empty promises Barclays, we require ACTION. Until then, even a 1* star review is too generous.Barclays is beneath disappointment. I strongly recommend investing your monies and assets elsewhere.

I put some stickers on their ATM explaining to their customers how they invested in fossil fuels and exacerbated climate breakdown. They ripped them off. Why? Are the ashamed of what they invest in?

I?ve tried calling so many times on the phone, when the store has been open, and I?ve gotten no reply, I tried calling both number twice and even waited 20 minutes on each line for an answer, and nothing. They say they have a fewer colleagues in the store, but surely they can hear the phone ring?
