I used to shop at Matalan regularly, but over time the clothing range has really gone downhill. The styles now seem to cater mostly to children and the elderly, with very little on offer for other age groups. The shoe selection is also quite limited, and even the homeware section lacks variety and style compared to what it used to offer.
That said, the staff are always friendly and helpful, which makes a difference. There?s a large car park and wheelchair access is available, which is convenient. Overall, it?s okay for a quick browse, but not the go-to shopping spot it once was.

Store changing rooms where dirty customer service was wanting, waiting a long time just to pay one person on the till, there where two originally but only serving one customer I joined the line expecting to be called over to pay, one staff member walked away from the till leaving me to wait untill the other customer had been served? Store was not even busy around a 7 people wandering around.

Extremely pricey for what is there. Not much choice of clothing. They do give blue Light Card discount, however, it is only applied of you spend £45 or more!!

Very disappointing service! I'm a wheelchair use & my partner has to push around. Went to the tills to be told only self sevice open, dispite staff there. I was struggling to scan the labels as the machine was to high on the counter & I was then struggling to put them in my bag. I want to be as independent as possible, but asked the assistant for help (my partner was using the other self service & paying for their items).The assisstants just glared & said it was 'self sevice only'. To be honest I felt like leaving & not bothering with all my items if the staff was prepared to see me struggling. My partner then ended up helping me, but this was not the point. If this is how you treat disabled customers, I can take my custome elsewhere! I spent alot of money in this store, but will not be shopping there again & can't recommend if you're disabled & need help at the tills!!!

I don't shop here often, but they had something I wanted. The store is a lot smaller than it used to be and you don't need a membership card like you used to! Good range of wares, not cheap, but not expensive either midway between Primark and M&S! Friendly, helpful staff, and lots of parking.
