I stayed at the premier inn next door, and the meal deal of 2 courses for dinner and then unlimited breakfast for £26 is spot on!
Staff super friendly, attentive and the food was a higher standard than I expected from a chain pub. Haddock and chips and the big stack burger were great and the breakfast huge variety too.
Atmosphere? It's been pretty dead, so there isn't really an atmosphere as such.. nice and relaxing though!
On my last evening, it was beginning to get busy, but Karen managed to get me a seat. She was extremely thoughtful and efficient about making sure my food was as expected and made my night wonderfully easy.
Nothing to mark it down for!

We were stopping at the premier inn next door, we asked for a table, and the man (Shaun) said he couldn't seat us all. We said we would split into small groups. We were told we could not get a table till after 9. But the children were not allowed in at that time. We went elsewhere. We did look on the app and there were tables for 2 to 6 people every 15 minutes from 6:30pm.

Absolutely horrible service! We arrived and checked online that there were tables available. We came to the door and shaun asked us how he could help.
We were a party of 9, so understood that we might have to be seated separately. Shaun told us in an incredibly rude way that he wasn't taking walk-in. He also told us that there were no tables, even though the pub was dead. He then told us if we wanted a table we could come back at 9pm, but the children couldn't come back. We had an understanding that we could order the food to our hotel room at the Premier inn. Shaun told us that they wouldn't even consider letting us order that much food.
One of us went back later in order to complain and saw that shaun was allowing walk-ins of several people!!! So the pub did have tables and room! Horrible service!!! And incredibly discriminatory against us, as we assume the reason they didn't want us to have a table is because we were travelling with children.
The premiere inn next door is great, but if you're travelling with kids and want to stay there for the sake of this pub, don't!! If you do stay there - get a McDonald's on your way up!

I have been coming here for the last few year's for work, i have always enjoyed the food, which is at a reasonable price, but more importantly, the service is excellent, i would recommend table table to anyone.

We recently stayed at hotel next to French Connection & used the restaurant twice. The food was good, reasonably priced.
The restaurant needs a refurbishment, paint work outside is peeling off. Seating inside needs attention.
We found some of the staff lovely & friendly especially the younger members. But unfortunately there was one lady who greeted us(in her 50s) could do with training in customer care.

Very limited food available, how can you have no curries, no rice, no pizza. There are only 13 items on the reduced menu. When drinks turn up, they taste terrible. Reorder drinks but no bottled normal coke. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our food.
This isn't a delivery situation. We were at the same pub/restaurant before Christmas, and it was bad then, but not this bad.
As this is next to premier inn, we were captive.
Will not return.

Came for a quiet birthday meal for two, and enjoyed a perfect ambiance throughout. The manager booked us in very quickly, the food was great comfort food for a cold Sunday evening (with a charming chef serving us), and to top it off we had a sweet woman called Shannon looking after us. She is definitely the best! Thank you for a terrific birthday treat! :)

I've been staying at the Premier Inn next door for the last two weeks and I have chosen to eat here every morning and every evening without fail, because the customer service is absolutely brilliant, the food is served really promptly and every meal I have ordered has been delicious.
I have been looked after tremendously well by Tracey, Sean and Karen, who have made the effort to know me by name and they've remembered what drink I like to order, to the point where my table has already been put aside and my pot of tea is ready for me the moment I walk through the door each evening. Amazing customer service.
I have also been looked after by Shannon, Charlotte, Daisy and Alfie, who have also demonstrated brilliant customer service.
In the mornings, Sandra has looked after me with the same care as the evening team, greeting me with a warm welcome, learning my name and remembering what I like to order etc.
I could easily have eaten elsewhere from time to time, but chose to keep coming back here because I've been treated like family.
I have future trips planned and I will most definitely be returning here.

This fills a place between the cheap and cheerful pub chain grub and the more trendy gastro pub, both in terms of menu and decor. So food is good without being outstanding value for money is good but not the cheapest etc. Not a lot of atmosphere but visits were early evening mid week.

This restaurant is an absolute joke, advertise sunday roast til 6pm, went a few weeks ago, and it shut at 4, we had already ordered the roast and before we went up they had already started putting it away, booked for today for 3.15 and when we arrived they said carvery was closed and they had no festive menu. Ridiculous!
