Nice place, cozy seating. Menu ok if a little limited. Burger was really good, as was the fish pie. Rack of ribs not so good. Decent choice of drinks, including local beers. Dog friendly. Service pretty good.

Very central location, traditional old school pub in the centre of town. We ordered the fish and chips and the scampi and chips.
Good atmosphere and generous portions. Had a slightly higher expectation considering where we were so just a 4 star review I?m afraid.

The food was very good. My husband and I chose this place together, and it was tasty. We ordered a Caesar salad, and the lady was kind enough to ask if she should remove the croutons from my portion, as she gathered from our conversation that I don?t eat gluten (I should add that I have a gluten allergy). The chicken was slightly dry, but when combined with the anchovies, it made a delicious pairing.
Additionally, I have a sensitive gut and digestive system, but everything was well-prepared ? I didn?t experience any discomfort.
The next dish I ordered was cod in a curry sauce with spring onion and chickpeas ? it was good, although the fish was slightly dry, as if it had been frozen rather than fresh. That said, nothing was burnt, and I?m inclined to believe it was fried in good quality olive oil, which I appreciate since I?m allergic to sunflower and rapeseed oils.
My husband ordered the triple beef burger and was moderately satisfied. The beef was of average quality, and it would have been better if there were two thicker patties to make it juicier. (I should mention he eats a lot of beef in all forms, and when he cooks steak, it's always rare or medium-rare.) So, unfortunately, the beef didn?t quite meet expectations.
The place is fine for a quick bite with a beer, but not for a culinary experience.
Overall, if you?re not too focused on food quality and just want something to eat and have a beer, it?s okay.
We don?t drink alcohol, but the food was decent, and I felt good afterward with no discomfort.
I can recommend it.

Lovely breakfast staff, breakfast was below average at £15 per head
Tasteless, badly cooked and were unable to supply tomatoes, mushrooms
And just one hash brown, one rasher bacon, cheap tasteless sausage
Buffet breakfast poor selection
Room was small, not enough tea and milk .
Maretti beer was flat, bar man miserable

Went for drinks and food few weeks back got told big party coming so needed to order quick did so with a waitress called izzy.. waited 40 min ..no food..other couple can in after us and ordered and got their food..asked waitresses how long she said 15 min as chicken not cooked.
Told her to forget order as need to get back home.she slammed down the bill ..not a sorry or a word.

We just dropped in for lunch. Greeted with a friendly welcome and directed through to the large outdoor seating area with bar. A fairly good selection on the set menu and some nice specials available too. A nice selection of beers, some local, and other drinks options. Food was nicely presented and didn't take long to arrive, but we had to fend for ourselves when it came to cutlery and sauces, etc.
This pub was not what we had expected when we had seen its slightly tired frontage.

Popped in for some lunch while passing through and it was unreal! Big portions, great service, lovely out door seating areas too. Sun trap. Definitely recommend.
