Fabulous food! I don?t usually leave reviews but felt I had to write this. We stopped at the pub after researching prior to walking Yarmouth/Freshwater loop. We got there a little after 2pm (pushing it a bit for lunch) but we were greeted warmly which was so nice, we probably had the best steak ciabatta sandwich we?ve ever had! Perfectly cooked medium rare, tender steak, all the accompaniments and paprika fries, absolutely delicious and well worth every penny! We?ll be back, thank you! ?

Stopped here on the River Yard walk for a pint with a friend. Lovely pub with outside seating galore. Food looked lovely although we didn't eat.

You will be hard pressed to find pub food this good at the price anywhere else.
We were so impressed with the meat we had on Thursday that we booked again for Saturday and had fish. Both were superb. You must book at it's is (rightly so) very popular. If you go on Wednesday evening you will hear the bells being rung at the church next door!

The food was awesome, above and beyond expectations for a pub. Service was genuinely good, wine list excellent.
This is a chef(s) who understands flavour and presentation.
An absolute must for island visitors.

Was recommended this pub by our local hotel we were staying at, when we arrived at 6.30 we were told no tables free till 8pm, although there were plenty of tables free.. We left slightly disappointed so we left the Pub to decide what to do. I decided to pop back into the Pub to book the table at 8pm and the Women behind the bar was booking a local customer to eat at 7pm. Treat your customers all the same madam. We decided not to give them our custom.

First time eating at The Red Lion after hearing a lot of people say how good the food is. It's not good....it's outstanding. Service was excellent, presentation was amazing, food was exceptional.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This place was a disaster from the moment we walked in. The staff looked like they?d rather be anywhere else ? completely uninterested, borderline rude. We were left standing awkwardly at the door for nearly 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged us, and it only got worse from there.
The food? A total joke. Lukewarm, bland, and ridiculously overpriced for what you get. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. My dish was missing half the ingredients listed on the menu, and the replacement they sent out somehow made it worse. The drinks were watered down and took forever to arrive ? and when they did, they were wrong.
The atmosphere was miserable. Dim lighting trying to pass as ?mood lighting,? sticky tables, and music that didn?t fit the vibe at all. And don?t get me started on the bathrooms ? absolutely filthy. If the rest of the place is anything like that, I dread to think what the kitchen looks like.
All in all, it felt like a place that?s given up. I wouldn?t recommend this pub to my worst enemy. Save your time, your money, and your appetite ? go literally anywhere else.
