From Island Sailing Club
Located on Cowes High Street
at the heart of the World’s Sailing Capital, the ISC is a well established, friendly and popular social and sporting hub.
Our History
The Club was formed in 1889 as an alternative to the more formal and exclusive sailing
Cubs that were becoming established in Cowes. The first race under the ISC Burgee was held on 28th
August 1889. Always referred to as ‘the friendly Club’ the Club organises the Country’s largest yacht
race the Round the Island Race with up to 1,600 boats and c10,000 racers. The Club is honoured to
have Her Majesty The Queen as Patron.
On the water
Sailing is at the heart of what we do, and our Club has a rich history in
yachting and racing, and we strive to provide a wide range of sailing.
