Lovely friendly team in a proper village pub, the food is incredible from the amazing curries to the home made proper pies. The Old Village Inn is a must visit on the Isle of Wight, but book early! Dog friendly too-so essential.

I have been making homemade pies for 40 years. I like pies with filling and a nice gravy. My son and I both chose the steak and ale pie. Firstly the portion was huge, it wasn't flooded with gravy over thick from cornstarch. It was reduced and extra supplied in a gravy boat. Inside the slab of pie, and it was a slab was, well let's just say half a cow. Small chunks were an inch square bigger one 2 inch. And double decked in these beef cubes juicy and melt in your mouth tender. Simple creamy thick mash and garlic peas. I can eat like a pig and I was full. Lovely welcoming service friendly to us and the dogs. Should have come here the day before. Lamb and red wine tonight. Give this place a go. It's wonderful

Called in on chance staff very welcoming and friendly, lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent,pie of the day was chicken and bacon can highly recommended it, will hopefully call back.

Booked a table at the last minute. Arrived about 5 mins before our time Pub very busy, nice atmosphere. Food was lovely and fresh but had to wait quite a while for it to arrive. We then received the bill but clerical error meant they wanted to charge us for double the meals we had. This was soon sorted.

We phoned to see if there was any chance of squeezing in a table of 7 expecting a solid no but Kevin found us a space. When we got there we had a private room all to ourselves! The food was top notch and all staff incredibly helpful and warm. Added bonus of a live band and a singalong ? First day on the island and the bar has been set very high. Thank you Old Village Inn x

We walked in off the street on quiz night. The place was rammed, but they found us a table and could not have been more hospitable. Even when extremely busy, the food arrived pretty quickly. We were impressed, so we went back a couple of nights later. The pub was equally busy without quiz night, but again they could not have been more welcoming or hospitable. Food was good again. Excellent pub with a good menu.

We went on quiz night (Monday - July '25), had a meal, sat in the 'mess area' at the back, it had a great atmosphere, staff very attentive and engaging, food good sized portions, pizza's stone backed on site, we will definitely be back and can't recommend it enough?, some happy holidayers ????.
(Although the pronunciation of Worcestershire did in fact entertain us ?).

First visit since the new owners took over and was really impressed. Nice refurb and very welcoming environment. The staff were friendly and genuine and the Sunday Roast was as good as I?ve had in a pub in a long while. Will certainly be back on our next visit.

They have coped very well with the Covid-19 requirements, and in an innovative and 'fun' way. It's all outside (but some under cover, if desired) and a reasonable choice of beers, wines and spirits (no draught beers when we went). Very reasonably priced, helpful and smiling staff . . we'll be back!!
