I was here with family on 26th of August around 18:00. I would like to start by saying how nice and accommodating the young boy and girl from staff were. They were polite, friendly and felt well received by them. That was the only good thing about the place that stood out. My main issue was with the older gentleman at the bar. A few minutes upon entering I could hear him talking down to a member of staff. Orders through the app were not possible and had to be placed at the bar where the same gentleman was being rude to us. We were later informed by staff about some more delays because of issues in the kitchen and were prepared to wait. Starter came after almost 1 hour. After another hour we could see tables around us getting their orders even though they arrived much later than us. Explanation by gentleman at bar was that we had 1 starter ordered. At the same time experienced him being rude to some other customer. When we decided we waited enough and wanted to cancel the order, the food arrived at the table. Being already prepared to leave, asked if take away was possible at which the gentleman offered tin foil as the only option and used his rude tone some more. Gave 5 stars for food because the only starter we had was indeed delicious. Atmosphere was amazing because of the lovely young staff members. To us it seemed like a mix-up was made with our table or order when placing it at the bar and a simple apology or a more appropriate tone would have been enough to make us wait through but the rudeness was intentional and too much

On August 26th we decided to visit a pub for dinner, first we had a problem with the order, the app wasn't working, we ordered everything at the bar, our order was served by an older man with glasses who was extremely rude not only to us but to all the customers. we ordered the order at 18:00 two hours later we were still waiting for our food, when I asked the bar staff if we would get our food soon because we have a child with us who is already extremely hungry and it is time for bed the man at the bar was again extremely rude, I explained to him that people who came after us have received their food but we are still waiting, there was no apology or attempt to be nice, we had one starter and that is why we waited, 15 minutes later I asked for our order to be cancelled, they said the food was ready we asked to pack it for home because the child was extremely tired, they did not have boxes but they could pour the food into foil and take it away ???????????? absolutely incredible really. The positive thing about this pub is that the young staff were extremely nice, the waitress a young girl with blonde hair, extremely nice and friendly as well as a young boy who was extremely nice and responsive.

On holiday and didn?t book, came in with a warm welcome from the lady (Paula) and gentleman behind bar. They found us a table straight away. We ordered and wow the food didn?t disappoint it was all perfect and my little boy is fussy and ate it all. Defo be back!!

On holiday saw the pub went in for dinner at 5pm sat down and was told they can't take walk ins
Mum had booked a table at 5.45 unbeknown to me .
Went to the bar to say we had booked .
The 2 staff behind the bar were whispering to each other and said there was no table allocated for us. They were expecting approx 60 guests within the next hour or so and the kitchen wouldn't cope with extra .
There were only 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids we would have eaten and been gone by the time it got busy .
Surely a green king branded pub shouldn't be turning business away and should be able to cope with a busy evening
And highly unprofessional for the 2 staff to whisper in front of us like we weren't there

Stunning country pub with amazing views. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Paula is exceptionally helpful and goes that extra mile to provide outstanding customer service, Highly recommend this pub.

Spotted this lovely little 'underrated pub' on the way to our holiday destination, beautiful pub, we were fascinated by it's history, so we booked our family a meal, the food, the team did not disappoint, lovely atmosphere lovely pub, when visiting this area do visit the hare and hounds, we shall definitely return again on our next visit to the Isle of Wight. Well done the Hare & Hounds team ?

We arrived at the hare and hound location there were 12 people in our group and we were turned away say that they prioritise booking customer and didn?t have the staff to serve so many people now the pub was empty with no booking reservations on any tables

Absolutely lovely food here. Booked same day as visiting. Accommodated us very well.
The food was of generous size and tasted amazing would definitely return here on our holiday. It's great for all families.
The service was quite slow but the staff did make us aware that they were unexpectedly busy and we was happy to wait and was definitely worth it.
