Decided to book here to celebrate my daughter?s 18th with a party of 11.
It started with table only had been set for 10 as was told they were waiting for other diners to finish so they could use their table to extend ours!! We then a very long wait for drinks, then to be told there is no ice due to machine breaking ( I understand these things happen, but this just added to the continued shambles of the evening).
2 of our party ordered burgers, it took 3 attempts to get the burger correct of a very simple request of no sauce chicken burger. After another long wait, we was then brought out beef burger with sauce, after complaining we was brought out beef burger without sauce, finally on 3rd attempt the requested chicken burger!! Just to add, neither of these burgers came out as described on the menu, very simple. The other member of the party was also brought out wrong burger. The worst was 3 of us sat waiting for our mains while others had nearly finished as food would have got cold if they had not started eating!
We were being brought over food that wasn?t for our table, by confused waiters.
2 of the same main courses was significantly different in size!! Brought out a child?s desert when ordered adults, given wrong Specials menu, i could go on?.
The pub could also do with some lights outside, had to put on phone torches to walk to the car.
First time I have ever left a negative review but this is very well deserved.

Went there today for Sunday roast, food took an hour to come because the bar staff forgot to put our order through. They did offer us free desserts for the mistake which was very kind. We had to keep going to the bar to order anything and ask for the bill because table service was non existent. The biggest disappointment was that I paid £21 for the lamb roast and they used braised lamb instead of leg, for £21 a plate you can?t serve stewing steak, has to be leg. Braised is the cheapest cut and doesn?t belong on a roast dinner and any decent chef knows this. Everything else on the plate was excellent though!

We recently celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary at The Cowper Arms booking for a party of 15 including children. It was a wonderful meal with everything cooked to perfection and all served together at the same time for each course. The staff did a great job looking after us and we could not have been happier with the superb service we received.
The food choices were excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. It goes without saying we will be returning and just want to thank everyone from our waitress to the chef for making it such a lovely experience for us on this special day.

Sunday lunch. My wife is vegan and gluten free so there was only one option. The roast had the non-vegan yorkie and vegetables removed but not sure they added extra vegetables to compensate. The chicken burger was ok, proper chicken breast, and chips very nice. Service was prompt and friendly. It's a nice pub but lacking in atmosphere at the time we went (12:30 pm). Probably better in the evening.

Lovely hosts and good food...great place for drinks with friends or for a quick drink n snack.
Not had chance for Mains yet, but looked good when others ordered. One for my next

We liked the pub so much we bought a house nearby. Good ale, wine, food. British pub food plus tapas and pizzas. Plenty of parking. Quite a number of vegan options (not that I have those).

Great pub, great staff, great drinks, great food. I come here every time I visit the area. Very welcoming.
Parking: Plenty of parking available, easy to find and access.
Wheelchair accessibility: No steps anywhere, everywhere is flat and accessible.

I received an prompt, appropriate response from the pub following an issue I raised and I am now satisfied with the response and service given. Thank you for resolving the issue for me.
The manager dealt with the issue professionally and very helpfully.
Good food always especially the Sunday roasts and good beer choice. I feel on reflection that the staff may have simply been busier that evening but am now satisfied.

Fathers Day - Short post - Bad Bad Bad Bad Service! Walked in, sat in the corner, no one came to us for 20 mins, guy with a pin striped business shirt on which was blue and was wearing grey Jeans said to me ill get to you soon ?Dude? and I responded excuse me and he said ?Fathers Day Dude??.. Alrighty?? Then I asked for 2 small glasses of wine. Gave us large glasses. Anyways, I?m from the area, so this is a major let down and I won?t be coming back here if I can help it. The food order also took forever! This place sucks!
Total Bill - £67.85 for the worst food, made us pay for large glasses of wine when we didn?t order that as well. Poor Service, Poor Atmosphere and Food was Horrid and yes we raised that to the waiter. I hope he reads this post. He needs to be trained!
Response - To the person (owner) who responded to my review.
1. Never said "Pinstriped Suit".... I said Pinstriped Blue Business Shirt!
2. I am not mistaking you with another place called Cowper Arms. Next to the station is exactly where I was.
3. A normal response would have been "sorry you didn't enjoy your meal and experience with us, we hope you come back again in the near future so we can try again".
4. Yes there was an issue with the wine glasses size. When you have 3 options, small, large or bottle. A normal question would be "Would that be the small, large or bottle". You don't just assume. I was also pointing directly and said small glasses of wine.

Good choice on the menu. Food was excellent and well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
