Absolutely appalling college!Especially the gcse department, if u are thinking of retaking your gcse u can forget it, teachers do not turn up, expect u to know the answers when they don?t know themselves. You might as well be taught by Mickey Mouse!Registration is a absolute joke.. teachers mark children absent when they are sitting right infront of them!! Massive safeguarding issue.. imagine if there was a fire ?? they won?t be looking for them as they are marked absent!!!If you are expecting to do a level 2 course to get on level 3 you can forget it!! Only chosen children are allowed! I will be taken everything further with this appalling college!(St Albans Campus much better)

Very inviting and friendly, for both students and tutors. Well presented college, with a vast array of courses at different entry levels, both academic and non-academic. My teenager felt at ease here.

the level of education I received from this place was shocking. The lecturer's wanted distinctions across the board but weren't willing to put in the work to get there. Appalling college

I wanted to study an engineering HNC with Oaklands a few years ago and went to an open evening. Instantly got told my maths wasn?t good enough and was rejected, no formal assessment just a rude woman that asked a few questions. It had been 10 years since I left college, no surprise I was a bit rusty.I thought the idea of going to college was to learn! Fast forward a few years and I have now completed my HNC with merit at an alternative training provider, for less than Oaklands in under half the time. I?m now almost finished the HND. It took half a day of studying to get my maths skills where they needed to be for the HNC.Oaklands hindered my career progression and I?m thoroughly disappointed with my local college. I can understand a lot of people would of never gone on after being rejected, it massively disheartening. Oaklands should support applicants that qualify for courses not just reject them and tell them you?re not good enough, when that?s clearly not the case! Disgusting

Just watched All Shook Up performed by the college students. What a great evening! Some amazing talent and lots of laughter. Well done to all involved.

Was continuously ringing different people to get my daughter on a course and leaving endless voice messsges to which no one even bothered to get back to me , which I think is absolutely shocking considering it?s a college for children so no help at all would definitely not recommend I think it?s rude and unprofessional to be honest ... but we rung Stevenage college to which someone answered and helped us we went down Stevenage college got my daughter straight on a course same day .... very helpfull Stevenage college, put Oakland?s to shame really ... glad my daughter didn?t end up goin there now so fine is a favour

At this point, I'm pretty annoyed with being misinformed at Oaklands College. When you have a problem, the recommendation most of the time is that you go and check the online portal called "Canvas" instead of giving me a simple answer to a simple question in the lesson so I may progress quicker. It causes students delays in their work and causes stress from the lack of progress due to these delays.I was told that the course that I am on is graded on a pass-fail basis. After being many weeks into the course, I find out that is not the case. So how am I supposed to strive for high grades if I don't know they exist? How am I supposed to achieve criteria that is vague or not properly communicated? They said to write in journal give me an account of what is going on in my course as evidence for the work that I have done but once again, I have been misinformed because I was to give a "formal" account when their words were that it was "Your account" of what's been happening - not specifying thatit needed to be formal. It would have been no problem to write formally from the start if there wasn't a lack of concise information telling me to do so. I now have to to sift through weeks worth of accounting and writing so to format it in such a way that formally presents itself as a result of this communication error.I found at the beginning of the course that I did not always have the equipment necessary to progress with my work and had to wait for other students (for quite some time) to stop using the equipment even though my class is of a normal size. The maths classes at the beginning of the course heavily sized and when the class is changed, registers were not updated promptly and causing annoyance for the other maths teacher for the next lesson.Overall, this College is okay but the lack of internal communication and willingness to share specific course related information with students upon request is limited. I would not recommend spending a year here due to the disruptions and lack of area-specific teacher knowledge in some areas.
