This is an exclusive golf course, not a hotel. Restaurant service finished at 7:00pm, and there was no bar. As we had our dog with us, we had to eat in the 'Link' which is really a covered walkway, so it was cold and we kept our coats on.The room was large and had a marvelous view across to Brocket Hall and the lake, but there was only one desk chair to sit on, the decoration was a little tired and there was only one bath sheet on the rail. It was extremely hot.Not really what we expected for the money and facilities were limited. On the plus side, staff were attentive and polite, breakfast was delicious, car charging was free.

The lodge is part of a golf club. Breakfast and other meals are at the golf course restaurant. You check in and out at the golf shop.

Amazing place to stay. Lovely rooms, clean and perfect for what I needed. Loved that you could park my vehicle close, as it was for work. Had a lovely table with a lovely view to do my work on my laptop. Free very strong WiFi! Would definitely stay again!Rooms: Clean, tidy, fresh. Stunning view!

Amazingly beautiful grounds and open spaces. Great place for walking or golf. Corner room in Lodge very large and bed comfortable. The lodge has 16 bedrooms and is a historic converted coach house. With the exception of the weekend club restaurant service, the reception, housekeeping and golf staff were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast included in our stay. Club restaurant weekend staff need training. We had dinner the first night. My Caesar salad was very unappetizing, the lettuce was brown. The next morning Our family of 4 waited 1.5 hrs for breakfast service and finally gave up and left to find another nearby place to eat. If the club restaurant were improved this would be an outstanding place to stay.

Melbourne Lodge is now looking somewhat tired. Some of the furniture is worn and the woodwork damaged, the mattress in our room was soft and worn and the plumbing (and bathroom generally) is old. That said, the room was clean, warm and well equipped. The views over the grounds are splendid. It would have helped to be told that check-in was in the golf shop down the hill. There is a small sign, but it is easy to miss in the dark and finding parking round there is awkward. Also, if you are dining, the restaurant is on the other side of the lake - that is quite a walk and not one you'd want to do in winter. Hence, you need to drive over. Breakfast (which was excellent and served by friendly and efficient staff) is also over in the club-house where you check in. I really think that with a little imagination and some refurbishment this could be a really good place to spend the night after a meal, or function, or golf.

If you wondered why there are only two reviews for this hotel it is because you are in the wrong place. Search for ?Brocket Hall?. The reviews there are not so glowing. We had 2 night at Melbourne Lodge recently at £225 per night B&B. We thought it was terribly overpriced. The rooms are dated and service poor.

Not a good experience. We stayed in Melbourne Lodge for 2 nights and apparently were the only guests. We wish we had read the reviews before booking. Our room was shabby, dirty carpet and stains from cups or glasses on bedside tables. Breakfast served in the clubhouse is basic, enhanced by a surly waiter on the second day. The choice is very limited, although if you like eggs you can have them different ways. You are allowed one piece of toast, which is made to look like two because it?s cut in half. We asked for a selection of extra toast, which never arrived, but we were presented with 4 large slabs of butter. Yum. Why is there a selection of jams but nothing to smear them on? My main problem came with asking the waiter if I could have a mug instead of a cup for my tea. I received a curt ?no?. I thought he was joking. When I pointed out that my partner had a mug for his coffee, I was told ?that is not a mug, it?s a cup?! Well, that?s telling me then. So glad we paid a lot to be insulted. We felt that the staff preferred the regular golfers who came in to eat. We have actually written to the management with our complaints, and in fairness we have been offered a free stay. But all I can say is never again. I don?t care if it?s free, I?m not a masochist. I think the management aren?t all that bothered. We have stayed at much cheaper hotels with nicer staff and better breakfasts. Holiday Inn Express next time.

Well I booked the superior room for my wife?s birthday weekend and booked also the champagne afternoon tea. On the Friday (the day we were meant to check in) they call me up and say that they have to cancel the afternoon tea. Literally, on the day we were due to arrive not sooner. We arrived there everything was shut including the main hall and the amazing restaurant. Basically, there was nothing to do or see within the grounds. Do not get me started, on their customer service absolutely despicable the manager did even have the guts to face us and apologise for the horrible birthday weekend that was ruined thanks to them. The manger passed it off to one of the ladies in reception!!!! In conclusion: don?t ever bother staying there. So overpriced!!!

The only 4* Hotel that we have stayed at where the kitchens close at 6.00pm forcing us to find a nearby pub for dinner and with no room service or papers.Room adequate and of a reasonable size but plumbing needs an upgrade with dripping taps at no hot water for several hours after our arrival.Breakfast and service in the golf club was very good, but reception rather indifferent to our concerns and made little effort to make up for any shortfalls.

Attended a function at brocket hall the Melbourne lodge May 2022 , on first impressions very impressive but one entering into the lodge area where I approached a member of staff as to where check in was , all I can say she was so rude and obnoxious not helpful at all , the rooms were not read so luggage had to be put into hold area no porter to take luggage which I found incredible that this service is not offered to guest especially for what you are paying . So myself and guest went to the area inside where the function was being held yes the room looked beautiful tables looked amazing , this is now where the problems started , very small bar area staff inadequate pumps not working properly waited over 25 min to get first drink , bar ran out of Bacardi during the evening , bar was a shambles Food was horrendous mine was cold and I sent it back it looked over cooked as well. 20 minutes passed it finally came back and it was still cold parts were slightly warm vegetables soggy , roast potatoes were as hard as a rock couldn?t cut into them the whole meal was disgusting , lots of guest returned there food to the kitchen I have never ever experienced such a disastrous experience on a event . And. Shelf and a lot of guest could not eat the meal this was not a cheap event and I would not have expected this service and such a disgusting meal . The poor staff who were waiting the tables were running around like headless chickens no directions not there fault bad management. I would not recommend this place for any event sadly spoilt the day evening

Stayed here last night after celebrating my sons wedding at Brocket Hall. Honestly the bedrooms could do with a complete refurbishment. Wallpaper peeling of bathroom needs a complete overhaul. On the plus side my bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Good selection and well cooked and presented. For the money they charge it really does need updating.
