Worst customer service ever. Went into buy a bike and accessories. No staff serving and the one I did find clearly didn?t want to be there. Made a special trip to the store after confirming they had the bike in the size only to be told they couldn?t sell it as there was no staff to build it.

I?m seeing good reviews previously and am wondering how. Yesterday I turned up to buy a bike for my son?s 11th birthday. We knew the bike we wanted and approached the guy working at the bike section. The guy didn?t make eye contact and mumbled. Eventually we came to understand that we couldn?t take the bike on the same day because there was no bike mechanic that day. Not a problem and we said we could collect the following day. We filled out some details and were led silently to the payment area where we got our receipt. Barely two words were spoken to us during the whole transaction and we left feeling a bit miffed. Today I went with my son to collect. Again there was only one guy working at the bike section and he was working on a bike directly in front of us. We waited patiently as it looked like he was doing something fiddly and we didn?t want to disturb him. He did not acknowledge our presence at all despite standing literally in front of him with a receipt our hand. When he had finished the bit he was doing we expected him to acknowledge us but he didn?t and just started undoing a wheel. We waited around 15 minutes before I had to finally say ?Excuse me mate, I know you are busy but we need to pick up a bike bought yesterday. Without looking at me the guy asked which one and I pointed to the display model even though he wasn?t looking. He then mumbled something incoherently and wheeled out the bike that had been sitting there all the time, no eye contact, nothing. I am usually a pretty chill guy but this wound me up. Customers come first is not the motto of this store, more like oh no a customer, how inconvenient. Management need a word!
Edit: Went into the store today because there was a problem with the front brake caliper. The guy stopped what he was working on and approached us right away and fixed our issue there and then. Top job Decathlon. Clearly management take these reviews seriously!

I experienced great service from Tyler at the Stevenage branch of Decathlon. He managed to diagnose and repair my son's bike quickly and offered advice to keep the bike in good order. Would recommend this store.

I?ve been using the bike workshop service at Decathlon Stevenage ever since I moved here two years ago, and I?ve been there many times. From my very first visit?when I brought in a second-hand bike that needed quite a lot of work (brakes, pedals, etc.)?to the occasional inner tube change, they?ve been my go-to place.
Over time, I?ve noticed three main staff members in the workshop. The manager (I think) an older gentleman, is very patient and considerate. He looks at all the details and clearly explains what needs changing and why. Then there?s a younger staff member with glasses, who is also extremely patient and empathetic towards me. For example, when changing a tube, he takes the time to check the inner and outer parts, the valve, and other details. My bike is quite old, and the valve area can be sharp?if pressed too hard, it can damage the inner tube at the very tip. This has happened multiple times, but he was the only one who spotted the cause and smoothed it out for me.
2 days after my back wheel was fixed, the same issue happened with the front one. I went back and this time was served by another young staff member with a very different approach. He?s the same person who, last time, put slime in the tube without even removing or checking it, guaranteeing it would easily last six months. Unfortunately, it lasted only about a month.
This time, as I?ve now been educated on both the benefits of slime and the sharpness issue, I asked him to check it. He said it was all good, quickly replaced the tube, and charged me for it. I don?t mind paying, but I do value the feeling of being understood and having the problem properly explained?it doesn?t cost anything to communicate clearly. He kept mentioning the extra £10 charge for slime. For me, the £10 is not the issue?avoiding repeated breakdowns and the hassle of pushing my bike back and forth on my daily commute is.
I?m not pointing fingers, just sharing what I?ve noticed. The outcome might be similar, but the customer experience can feel very different. I hope this young staff member can learn from his colleagues, because they set a great example. No hate here?just hoping to see improvement. I?ll continue using this workshop regardless, because overall, they?ve been reliable and helpful.

For the future, I suggest you make use of the Updates section of your Google Business Profile so customers are aware of the unexpected closure before driving to the store. Best regards.
Drove 30 minutes on Tuesday, 5th August, expecting it to be open until 7pm as usual. Arrived before 6pm to find the store already closed, with no explanation posted online or at the entrance. Very frustrating and inconvenient, especially with no notice. Please ensure your opening hours are accurate and clearly communicated.

More like pentathlon. It?s half the size of a regular decathlon store. Don?t bother. Go to a proper sized one or go online
