Been a member for many years now. DL was a premium brand once upon a time, but is more of an everyday gym now. I do feel there are recurring issues with faulty equipment not only in the gym; but also the jaccuzi and showers. The gym equipment when out of action stays out of action for weeks. As of today the main bank of treadmills have had 3 of them out of action for weeks on end. Why? There is a bicycle with the foot straps missing and these have been missing for months. Why? If Odyssey wasn?t so oversubscribed I would leave as I feel standards are not what they were. Staff are great, always a warm welcome, but they are being let down by poor infrastructure

This gym has a lot work to do, the standard of the gym is low.The gym provides multiple equipment, staff are helpful but the cleaning team are not doing what they should be doing.( not cleaning to a high standard) they use the same dirty water repeatedly, everywhere.Life guard clean near the pool and push all the dirt in the pool while members are in the pool. Chewing-gum or plasta and gritt are the common things members find in the pool.Their is a too much mould around the pool area, from the jacuzzi, to the steam room, the shower divider which stand by the pool area is completely worn-out and the sauna stinks of pee.In the main showers, the mould is very apparent on the sealing, the tiles on the wall can be a lot more cleaner, like blood stain or dirt and mould. Very often the showers is out of use, it's either no hot water or completely out but email are not sent to let members know. The shower gel the club provides are way too diluted. As u dispense the shower gel in your hand its already washed away from the very high showers. If u do manage to shower with the shower gel that david lloyd provides after being in the pool, you'll be stinking of bleach as u walked out the gym as a result. Also to mention, some shower, the water pressure are very low, the height of the showers doesn't help as a result of the showers being so high. The treadmills and equipment around the pool area are all sticky to touch, worn out to a very low standard and their excuses are that because of the humidity around the pool area, that's what makes the equipment sticky to touch..it is very inconvenient.A great amount of platinum members found it ridiculous as excuses from David lloyd stevenage.Getting through someone via the app can take at least 6 to 8 weeks even more before someone actually get back to you.At the main point (réception) they have a lady with a loss voice, who makes it very hard for members to understand a word when she speaks.Emails are only sent out when the pool is closed but not When jacuzzi, steam room, sauna are closed because of maintenance issues. Emails or messages are not sent to members so that they are aware.. you'll only know when u get there. Theirs has been no hot water or occasionally in the ladies and men's shower for about 4-6 weeks but the club only made it official by putting a notice at the reception. So now before going I suggest members call to check if hot water is available as members will not receive any update in regard to the hot water situation.A platinum membership is @ 74.99 or more( to be confirmed) at the moment and this allow the member to have access to the gym anytime while its open.

As a first time gym goer I thought I?d sign up to some PT training sessions to get me started!! Ian has been an absolute dream in getting me motivated (great taste in music!!) and helping me set my goals and become a self starter in the gym! Thank you Ian!

I really do not expect a maintenance man to be carrying out work to the sewage / drains whilst I'm getting changed and making comments about rust and toilet paper blocking the drainage. Surely management would have known he was due today and sealed off the area well in advanced?! VERY disappointed. Also once again the jacuzzi is well below temp at around 18 degrees.

Going to David Lloyd is now part of my daily routine. It?s very close to the train station which is ideal for my commute. Parking is not a problem, given the size of the entertainment park in which David Lloyd is situated. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Great examples include Lily who you will greet you at reception; and George the Personal Trainer, who is very knowledgeable and motivational. David Lloyd is kitted out with all the fixed weights, free weights and machines you need. Downstairs there is a nice sized pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There are plenty of different classes to join too. The changing rooms are spacious with plenty of lockers to secure your belongings (padlock required), with a few privacy booths if you prefer. Showers are private and temperature is adjustable. On your way out, you?ll find the café, which is stocked with protein shakes, healthy snacks and of course, coffee! I very much enjoy starting my day at David Lloyd.

I was so nervous, but Ian was calming and welcoming. I am not a fan of the gym, so to have a PT that met me at the front desk and talked me through was a real help and confidence boost. For those of you that are self conscious and embarrassed at a gym, Ian is fantastic!!

Always a wonderful experience! The gym is well-kept and visually appealing and the experience was only improved by the warm welcome and swift assistance provided by Lily at reception. Will be visiting again and would highly recommend!

Lily is a lovely receptionist who always takes the time to address me by name and ask how I am. She is always bright and cheerful with a smile on her face. She is a real asset to the club

Always get a friendly welcome in the morning and Lily A on reception is always in a good mood. The staff are all friendly and attentive and if any machines stop working they are normally sorted relatively quickly.
