Riders are left waiting outside as if they are worthless, wasting time and fuel while management clearly does not care. If you insist on taking orders, at least have someone dedicated to managing riders properly. Ten minutes may seem minor to you, but it counts for everyone else. Riders work for very little, following strict timings. When they ring the bell, they expect someone to open. If riders need to wait, it should be done politely. Basic courtesy costs nothing.
You have spent serious money on refurbishing the store but invested nothing behind the scenes. It is a polished façade covering total chaos.
I have worked in this field for years and seen plenty of places improve with technology, organisation, and smarter processes. Deliveries can run smoothly, yet this store has not moved an inch. No progress, no accountability, just mismanagement.
Staff make it worse. Most are grumpy and dismissive when opening the door as if they are doing you a personal favour. Every interaction here is a test of patience. The only exception is a middle-aged woman who genuinely cares, polite, helpful and kind in a place that otherwise feels cold and hostile.
And let me say this as a customer and not a delivery driver. When I order, I expect it on time. I plan my day around it. Instead, I end up watching my rider stuck outside because no one wants to open the door for him. Why even accept my order if you do not intend to handle it properly? This is basic process management and right now it is a complete failure. It makes using this platform pointless because timing is everything.
If you cannot manage, pause the orders or adjust your timings. If you really want to make honest money from these platforms, dedicate someone to organising it properly. And if you need help, ask politely. Do not dump the responsibility on others, it is your job and not theirs.

Usually I?m in Sainsbury with my Mum saying ?that?s why I shop at Waitrose? because there?s only one or no till open whereas Waitrose prioritise the customer experience. Sad to take her to Waitrose St Albans to find they?ve redesigned - and only one till open. Those in your store should be the priority. Might as well have been in Sainsbury ?

Disappointed with the last refurbishment. Brand new coffee machines have been out of order for weeks now. Toilets have missing buttons. But at least there's dry aged beef cabinet, lol.

Incredibly friendly staff, plenty of produce at affordable prices. Scan Pay Go and Self Service are now in the store so lends to far more efficient convenience shopping for those in a rush. Switched to Waitrose recently as they have a lot of essential lines cheaper than the supposed 'cheaper' supermarkets, definitely a good choice, this store especially. Well done with the refit and improvements to all involved, great place to go to now!

The refit makes shopping an ever changing adventure, but its for a good cause, and the staff are wonderful at helping you find meandering items, and should be congratulated for being cheery in the face of adversity.
I too am not a fan of self check out, but protesting against this, is like mourning the pen in a keyboard age. So roll on opening day..

I love my little Waitrose. The experience is always top notch and I really just wanted to focus on staff as we all know the products are excellent. Compared to ANY other supermarket their staff shine far above the rest. They're always ready to help, you always find a member of staff unlike other supermarkets, they have excellent product knowledge, always helpful, always personable. Please never let this slip as it's what holds Waitrose leaps above the rest, yes including the other large prestigious chain! Way better.
I look forward to seeing the staff at their re launch end of July where they've made even more improvements.
