Great base in central St Albans. Very friendly service, comfortable beds and we enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant.

The so-called "superior" room we were promised was anything but superior. It was simply minuscule and utterly weary. I shudder to think of what horrors the non-superior rooms must possess. Supposedly, there was to be a grand sofa awaiting our arrival, but alas, all we found was a solitary IKEA chair. I must confess, I feel rather disheartened and almost swindled, as none of the pictures or descriptions adequately prepared me for this disappointment. The exorbitant price we paid was simply unjustifiable given the lackluster offering.

It is a beautiful period hotel, wonkey floors and all! Wonderful. Had an issue with a non flushing toilet dealt with fantastically by a wonderful lady. Please enjoy the experience we did.

Great little hotel in a 800 year old building, right opposite the cathedral and just a short walk from the center of St Alban's.Friendly staff, great pub food and the building itself is full of character. The rooms could do with a refurb as everything is a bit dilapidated. Comfortable and clean, just needs a refresh.

Visited on Friday for the second time. Once again the service it was outstanding. I had an Groupon voucher 2 course meal for 4, booking reservation system is very professional, the staff is 10 stars, food is excellent and the location is very cosy, quiet and clean.Definitely will return.

It is difficult times for the hospitality industry however the staff at the hotel were lovely. We were able to check in at 2pm which helped us a lot having travelled a long distance. The room, it is fair to say, was tired but clean. Overall it was value for money. Thank you.

Based on our own experience at least, for what we paid, I don't think that the White Hart represented good value for money. The hotel itself has the novelty of being a 15th Century Building and we were lucky enough to get a Four Poster Bed, but otherwise it was all downhill from there really. Previous reviews had already referenced that a macerator was used in combination with the toilets, so we were ready for the noise. What I was not expecting was that after it was flushed during the night, it would repeat the process on at least five occasions, making sleep impossible whilst you worried if it was in fact broken. Similarly the standard of dusting in the room was poor and generally compounded the feeling that the place was tired and in real need of some tender loving care overall. To cap it off in the morning, both the bath and the shower ran brown/pinky coloured water! On checking out I advised the Receptionist of these complaints and observations. They apologised and in respect to the latter, suggested that the colour of the water might be down to a new boiler being fitted recently, but otherwise they were unwilling to accept that our experiences might be worthy of some sort of compensation. It was all rather disappointing really and put a dampener of what had otherwise been a nice time in St Albans.

We had a house full of baggage and nothing was ever too much to help us from the staff. A very family friendly and lovely hotel/pub setting. We were helped by a lovely gentlemen and any request was met with a way he could solve our problems. The room was a very large family room with great facilities for our little kiddies. The accomodation and surrounds is your typical old school English Tudor house which was lovely and just what we need after close to 30 hours of travel. Close to the city centre by foot and an ample of food choices or other pubs on your doorstep. Parking is possible at this place too as well as breakfast. Highly recommend this place, probably a lot easier if you have less bags, unlike us.
