We have been for an afternoon tea during mothers day. The food was delicious, the room was beautiful etc. The only problem was the service which wasn't matching the premises.

The spa is incredible- facilities are clean and thoughtful as well as tastefully decorated. Massage and facials are amazing.

We recently enjoyed a one nights stay for my husbands birthday.
It?s a beautiful hotel, with a wonderful spa to relax in.
My adequate rating is based on a couple of experiences we had that I would have hoped for better service, both in the spa & restaurant.

Recently visited Sopwell House & Cottonmill Spa for a belated birthday treat with my husband.
Check in was straightforward & Ting was lovely and efficient, providing us with a mini fridge & lovely birthday card macarons for our celebration.
The fireplace is a nice touch & reception area is very cosy.
The room itself was quite small - although the bathroom was not as clean as you would expect from a luxury stay.
The Spa & massage was very relaxing, we had massages by Tutu and Maureen who were both excellent & we walked away feel rejuvenated!
Lunch was also excellent & the produce was fresh.
I would say we were let down by the following:
- Dinner at Brasserie: poor food options, service was terribly slow, portions small for the price & food was served at a lukewarm temperature. No apology for why our main course was served late..appeared that they had forgotten about it!
- Breakfast: Drinks were not what I would expect from a ?luxury? stay / particularly the coffee! Seemed very weak & watered down.
Buffet definitely decent for certain things I.e. fresh honeycomb, varied pastries.
However, not much choice in cooked breakfast if you don?t eat meat and I would?ve expected a bit more in the form of French toast/pancakes/crepes given the price of stay!
Rooms: Our room was spacious but again seemed a bit outdated & awful view of the roof. Bathroom not as clean as anticipated.
Overall, it was a lovely stay mainly due to the massages & spa, but definitely let down by the service & food during dinner & outdated rooms!
Rooms: Spacious but not as clean as you would expect & poor views
Food and drinks: Options not great if picking from set menu, poor service at dinner.

Our stay at Sopwell House was beautiful and relaxing. We had club access to the Cotton Mill Spa, and while we could have explored more, we loved the club area so much that we stayed there. The hydrotherapy pool was my favourite feature, with its indoor and outdoor sections. Even in chilly November, the outdoor hot tubs were a treat. A nice touch was the herbal teas, which you could help yourself to in clear mugs and take into the hydrotherapy pool.
Upstairs in the Whisper Room, it was nice to experience the panoramic sauna, botanical steam room, and relaxation room, though I personally preferred the hydrotherapy pool downstairs. There?s also a sauna and steam room downstairs near the hydrotherapy pool. Another great feature was the QR code system?when relaxing on the beds, you could order drinks and snacks directly, although there was a cut-off time (possibly around 8 or 9 PM).
I was celebrating a birthday, and my partner arranged for the room to be decorated, but they just left a scatter of rose petals, which felt a bit underwhelming. This could have been done better, but it didn?t affect our stay as the room itself was cute. We particularly liked the modern bathroom, which was very sleek and clean.
Breakfast was a little underwhelming, as the food was lukewarm, though this may have just been an off day. The brasserie felt like it needed a refresh, but I recently received an email about renovations, which is promising. The bar had a great atmosphere, actually feeling like a proper bar, which we appreciated.
We also dined at Omboo, which had a cute interior. Our original table was quite cramped, but the staff accommodated our request to move. Some dishes didn?t quite hit the mark for us, but overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return!

I had booked Sopwell House for my husband?s 30th birthday, hoping for a special and relaxing experience. While the spa facilities and general atmosphere were enjoyable, multiple issues during our stay have led us to decide that we will not be returning.
Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short of expectations. We?ve visited other spa hotels that provided a far better experience at a lower cost, with attentive and accommodating service. Based on our experience here, we would advise you to save your money and consider other options.
Firstly, the room provided was smaller than anticipated. Upon arrival, I placed my jacket and scarf on the armchair, only to later discover a thong wedged into the seat. It was well-hidden and camouflaged with the pattern on the armchair. It went unnoticed until I moved the jacket, which was disgusting, surprising and uncomfortable especially for my husband. I bagged up the thong and gave it to the reception.
Additionally, the next day our breakfast experience was disappointing. We were informed at check-in by the receptionist that the latest time to arrive for breakfast was 10:45am. However, when we arrived at 10:40am, we were told that breakfast had already been packed away, and the last arrival time to have breakfast was 10:30am. This miscommunication was frustrating.
The day after, during breakfast, we observed a manager of European descent speaking quite rudely to staff members in front of guests behind the bar which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. At one point, a worker, who appeared to be of Nepalese descent, was visibly upset and in tears. This behaviour was unprofessional.
There was also a minor issue regarding the swimming pool hours. We were informed at reception that the pool closed at 9:30pm on Saturday, yet when we arrived for a quick swim around 8pm, we discovered that it closed at 9:00pm. This was the same receptionist who had checked us, and the lack of clarity on such a simple matter was disappointing.
The day before our departure, another receptionist informed us that a later check-out would definitely be possible, as Sunday had fewer bookings. We were advised to call reception an hour before our check-out time to confirm. However, on the day of our departure, when we inquired about extending our check-out, a different receptionist told us they were fully booked and could not accommodate the request.
After reading other reviews, it is clear that these issues - particularly regarding rude staff and miscommunication - are not isolated incidents but rather recurring problems.

We booked dinner for two at the newly opened brasserie.
It was such a disappointment. We started off with prawn cocktail with avocado. We had approximately 4 cubes of avocado the size of peas in a very small glass dish.
We then ordered the lamb pie with carrots and peas with a side order of mash. When the pie arrived it had mash on it with vegetables in the middle of the pie consisting of about six small cubes of carrots and six peas. The side order of mash was cold.
We had a glass of red wine each and a bottle of water.
Total cost £120 !!!!!
A waste of money for the portion size . Very disappointed?

My boyfriend has bought an overweight stay with a spa and dinner included as a birthday treat for me as he was away and we couldn't celebrate together. He paid nearly 600 pounds for the experience. On arrival, I was asked to pay an extra 200 pounds deposit for the room. I thought it was a mistake and explained that my boyfriend made a booking and paid for everything already. What comes to worst - I didn't bring any money or card with me because everything was paid for, including meals. I have started to cry, feeling extremely vulnerable, and had to sit down as it was just horrible. I couldn't believe how they treated me, I phoned my boyfriend and he had to speak to the receptionist, explaining that he is in Dubai, but he can transfer this extra money so I can stay the night. I just wanted to go home, but with the cancellation, we would lose all the money he paid. After nearly an hour, only the porter was kind enough to offer me water and a tissue. Finally they have come to agreement and the reception sent my boyfriend a link and he transferred the deposit, so I stayed the night, but after all of this, I didn't use the treatment and I didn't go for a dinner, I just couldn't. I only went to spa trying to relax, which didn't work, unfortunately. Tomorrow, first thing in the morning, I will be out of here with the intention of never coming back.

I recently visited the spa at the Sopwell House, and unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations, especially given the price point. The spa itself is quite small, with limited facilities beyond the main pool. The amenities are disappointingly minimal?only one towel is provided, along with an old, small bathrobe. The changing rooms are completely bare, lacking essentials such as extra towels, cotton buds, hairbrushes, or any other thoughtful touches you would expect from a high-end spa.
The lunch buffet was very simple. While the starters were decent, the desserts were underwhelming and felt like an afterthought. As for the treatment, it was just okay?not particularly memorable or at the level one would anticipate from a luxury spa experience.
Overall, I found the experience disappointing and not worth the cost. Having visited many luxury spas, I expected a much higher standard in terms of both service and facilities.

We recently booked an early birthday treat at your spa, and given the cost compared to other spas, we expected a top-notch experience. Unfortunately, it was deeply disappointing from start to finish, and we feel like we?ve been completely let down.
Our massages were scheduled for 12:30 PM, but we were not allowed access to our room until 3 PM. We were not informed beforehand that we should open our suitcases at reception, take what we needed, and get changed at the spa. When I asked the manager about this, explaining that I had expected to get ready in my room, her response was rude and dismissive. She abruptly told us she could refund our money if we didn?t want to stay.
We tried to salvage the day, but the last straw came during dinner. We ordered our mains in the restaurant, only to receive plain meat without the vegetables or sides we had ordered. There were only two other people in the restaurant, so there was no reason for such a mistake. The waiter apologized and even suggested not charging us for the mains we didn?t receive.
At this point, we decided to pack our bags and leave, despite having paid for an overnight stay and breakfast. Upon checkout, we explained our reasons for leaving, but the manager offered no solution, apology, or acknowledgment of our concerns.
This experience fell far below expectations, and we are extremely disappointed.

I?m glad we only paid for the basic room and not book dinner at the hotel as any more money spent here I would have been even more disappointed. The spa was clean and looked lovely, but no access to the other spa with more facilities. We booked a local restaurant for dinner which I?m glad we did. Breakfast was nice and like most buffet breakfasts in nice hotels. Would I stay again? I don?t think so. Also not had the £200 deposit put back on my card yet either.
