On my recent visit to St Albans I popped into Costa on the high street . The cafe itself is ok but the food is beyond bad. I had the misfortune to choose a chicken and bacon Caesar wrap. Dry tasteless hardly any filling unbelievably bad. To its credit they offered a replacement or refund but beware of the wrap

This is somewhere I like to come. Friendly staff and good coffee it is a pity they now seem to be allowing dogs. Luckily we found a table at the other end of the store.

I assume he's the manger, perpetually rude and hostile, ordering the staff around with a wave of the hand. My panini was served to me after I literally watched half the contents fall on the floor. He spread out what remained inside it. I know it's a very busy shop and they're under pressure but it really is awful, because of him. The other staff seem friendly but are not allowed to interact with customers.

Not one white barista, sorry.\\nAlso, the coffee wasn't very good as it was too weak and I had to ask for another shot. Costa need to create a better more smoother blend.

My self wife enjoy the day out every day at Costa in st Albans really nice to sit and enjoy the coffee I wish you have more offers when I use the Costa points card because it takes long time to earn the points we are retired couple that's why anyhow we enjoy it every day

I have never felt a need to write a review on TripAdvisor in the past, but today's visit to Costa St Albans, St Peter's street, merits a comment. Upon arrival at mid-morning, I queued behind a middle aged lady with two or three youngsters, who were somewhat distracting her; the male staff member was trying to attract her attention, but rather than saying something like:"Excuse, me madam", he shouted at her "You, you, you", while pointing at her in a really aggressive manner, which really disturbed me. I really recommend Costa invests in 'politeness and manners' training for its staff. When it was my turn, I was given a cutlery which was not washed properly and had dry bits on it, which I rejected - the chap just picked it up and casually threw it under one of the coffee machines, without replacing it with a clean one. Lastly, I visited the toilets - there was only one in use and there was a small queue. When I went in, it was in appalling state - there was wee everywhere on the floor, but around the toilet the puddle was few centimetres deep, so to use the toilet - I had to stand in the puddle! There was toilet paper on the floor and the tap only worked if it was held down with one hand, so impossible to rub your soapy hands together! When I told the staff that the toilet was really dirty, their response was that there was only one toilet in use and it was a "disabled" one, hence its state. All in all, I think St Albans Costa on St Peter's street has deteriorated so quickly and so terribly in the last few months, which makes me really sad as it used to be a lovely place to have a coffee and cake.

Spacious Costa and less dull brown than in most plus a nice outside seating area on the busy high street.I would give 5 stars if there was no smoking outside.

i went in for drink. it was not clean. they don't have anything for disabled people or people with disabilities. i could not understand half of the staff. i told them their t-loop wasn't working and they said not my problem. wont go back again.
