A real hidden gem! The team at Blacks of Sopwell go above and beyond ? even for small orders ? and make you feel genuinely valued. The furniture is beautifully designed, superbly crafted, and of outstanding quality. Unique, thoughtful pieces I coudn't find anywhere else.

With a particular style in my head I trawled the internet for days until I found these dining chairs at Black?s of Sopwell. I called Ian and asked if he could send some colour swatches to me?Black?s is in St. Albans and we are in County Durham! I received the leather swatches within days and decided on a colour. I ordered the Dylan chairs for our new kitchen initially but during the house upgrade we agreed a new dining table would be nice too. Once again I spoke to Ian and we ordered a further 4 Dylan chairs and the Elements dining table. Ian is the best! He was so helpful and delivered all of our furniture personally. I cannot recommend Black?s highly enough. The delivery period is quite long but the furniture is of such a high quality and made to order so that is to be expected. Definitely worth the wait, we love, love love our furniture from Black?s!

Such a shame the customer service lacks here - travel from a way to come here to purchase an item to be told I would have been better to shop online, rude customer service when taking payment struggled to pay cash and card here

Well who knew such a fabulous place existed. I actually had my 21st birthday at Sopwell House way back when it was still a privately owned hotel. We had been carrying out lots of work on our new (old) house and one of the changes we made was to install a picture frame gas fire, to get the depth we had to add a fake chimney breast and the result was we were left with two slightly narrower than your average cabinet spaces. Whilst visiting St Albans we were told about Blacks of Sopwell as being a supplier/manufacturer of individual pieces of furniture. Well, truth be told I spotted a dining table I loved straight away but alas too late as I had already purchased a new table. However, they had several cabinets all which could be made to what ever size I wanted, a choice of wood and finishes. I chose a cabinet in Oak, the oak is fabulous, 30mm thick, the doors from the cabinet all cut from the same piece so the grain follows through the doors. I also chose a matching TV cabinet but had drawers added rather than open fronted as most equipment is now Bluetooth so does not need line of sight to operate. I made a slight change to the base of the cabinets which Ian was happy to accommodate for us. Since then we have gone back for a further piece of furniture, this time had a distinctive piece of shelving made with the same finish as the cabinets. Ian was very patient whilst we made our choices and confirmed the best finish to match in with our flooring. Highly recommend, fabulous furniture and fabulous service. Thank you Ian and your team.

We've had our sideboard for couple of months and still amazed by its quality. It fits so well into our room and so glad we went with Blacks. Ian was so helpful making it right for us and really guided us through what would be best for our space.

Blacks of Sopwell made us a hall bench seat with shoe storage to our exact specifications. It looks great, and is really good quality. Ian Black was really helpful in advising what could be done, and we are really pleased with the end result. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Highly recommended!
