The apartment was large and decent for the family of adults. It was a cosy apartment and the most important thing to us, was that it was peaceful and quiet. Excellent hosts, who are Italians. Breakfast was as expected, although a couple in their selfish nature took all the croisants and left the rest of the guests with none. Guess what, these two couples in their 30s did not even eat them. How bloody selfish. I hope they rot in hell; the two of them.

Our room had a comfortable bed, good shower over the bath with soft towels. I was a bit apprehensive after seeing some negative reviews but apart from the slightly dated carpets (bit worn in our room) it was all fine. Very good breakfast with lovely freshly baked croissants, a cooked breakfast, cereals etc. (The staff even remembered we had requested oat milk) Friendly helpful staff, parking space behind the building, lovely garden and some amazing houseplants. There is a trainline behind the hotel but the trains did not bother us at all. There are some lovely original features too in the Edwardian building.

Price Quality ratio is excellent. We particularly like the typical English character of the house, the interior, the bar, the dining rooms and the sleeping rooms. It is a comfortable hotel with very good service. The Italian restaurant serves a large variety of dishes, but I never tasted such a nice Spagetti Milanese! So they are also excellent in the simple dishes. Any way very worthwhile to visit, also because it is situated quite close to the centre of the lovely town, St Albans

Spending three nights at the Ardmore in St Albans was our first visit and what a lovely place the hotel is. In a very quiet location we thoroughly enjoyed its high quality in every regard. Friendly staff who work so hard to please visitors was there all the time. Meals were particularly excellent. Our room was surprisingly high class given the cost. Very enjoyable. Will certainly revisit when returning to the South. No one needs a better hotel. Thanks to the hotel we totally enjoyed our short holiday.

1970s guest house feel very dated, not much of a welcome, noisy trains running past all night, ironing facility consisted of an iron wired into the wall on a first floor landing! Threadbare towels, bar was dark and unwelcoming so didn?t venture in. Headed out into town asap and pleased we didn?t opt for breakfast. Not cheap either

Great service and good value for your money. The place had a beautiful garden. Joe was very helpful with accommodating changes when necessary for our workshop. Overall it was a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Arrived mid evening to surly staff, the smallest room I have ever seen, no lift, room like a sauna with a noisy stadium most evening which was eventually replaced with a branch line train noise every 20 mins until gone midnight. Iron facility from the iron age bolted to the landing wall. Dinner order messed up. Cancelled 2nd night as couldn?t face it - looked for someone to complain to next morning around 0700 not a soul around. Shower either ice cold or scalding hot and so small each body part got its own wash. Single bed very uncomfortable. Carpets stained & threadbare like eveything else.

We had a lovely room, tea and coffee was ample, the room was spotless clean , bed was comfortable slept like a log . The staff were all beautiful, and so very helpful and friendly. We only had breakfast payed for it separately, but it was definitely worth the money. Very filling and plenty of things you could help yourself to cereal, juice, croissants, and then full English and it comes hot as well . Will be honest it is spotless , but in some parts of it could do with a bit of a refurbishment, but will definitely be going again , no doubt about that . Thankyou xx

We stayed here mid August for one night. A most pleasant place to relax and enjoy a game of cribbage on a beautiful garden from one of the patio chairs with tables. What a beautiful place to enjoy a special event. See my attached photos of the planters and hanging baskets. The staff were kind and attentive. The hotel was quiet even though it is convenient for everything in the middle of St Albans. Breakfast was delicious. How nice to have the toast brought to the table so no waiting for the toaster machine to go round twice! I enjoyed a tasty evening meal of steak pie and apple pie with Villa Maria wine. There were plenty of pasta dishes on the reasonably priced menu. No need to go out to eat. I would happily stay there again and enjoy another Choral evensong in the Cathedral, a visit to the Roman amphitheatre to see a summer play snd perhaps a little shopping....

Good facilities, but rudely woken with the DND sign on door as work nights, accused of smoking in the room Which was untrue, after trying to explain and no evidence there was told NOT being accused even though ?I need to be very careful as the fire alarms are very sensitive??if this was the case surely they would have been triggered from my apparent ?smoking in the room??! I was a firefighter for HFRS so even more insulting. Made to feel very uncomfortable and cancellation and refund was refused. Poor customer service and very prejudiced staff.

Last week we had the pleasure of holding our daughter's wedding reception dinner here! Joe was such a wonderful host and the evening was exceptional thanks to his level of professionalism. The food was superb and so was the atmosphere. We will dine here again...a hidden gem!

A really lovely dinner spot, with a beautiful dining area and gardens and excellent service. We very much enjoyed our dinner here and will recommend it to anyone looking for dinner in the area.

Lovely Hotel restaurant which I have never visited before. Although our visit was a sombre occasion the restaurant was beautiful and the meals and staff were exceptional. I would recommend The Belvedere for any special occasion!

This place is on our gold list at work. When working in St Albans we always stay here. Nice rooms, plenty of parking and the food is amazing!! Lovely staff too!! As a single female traveller I am always made to feel comfortable when dining by myself.
