Beautiful pub in the heart of Hertfordshire, good sized bar with outside seating, very happy staff and service. Handy for those with an eye for history, close to a WW2 airfield.

Really disappointing experience. Started well, nice room, starters were nice.
The main courses were awful. Soggy fish and chips, the ribeye steaks were unseasoned lumps served with about 10 fries (£28!?). Had to wait ages for new cutlery that wasn?t replaced after starters and even longer for sauces which were in sachets! Unbelievable.
The deserts were a joke. Dry and dusty brownies and the £9 Eton mess consisted of a spoonful of cream ONE strawberry and a dribble of compote. Thought is was a practical joke.
On top of it all we couldn?t hear each other as there was a party happening and the music was so loud any chance of a relaxing meal even without the crap food was impossible.

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch, followed by a look around the museum next door. The pub has plenty of historic images and artefacts associated with the airfield. We flew in to Nuthampstead airfield and walked to the pub, it?s about a 10-15 min walk. Really grateful to the pub for putting me in touch with a local pilot who flies from the airfield as I hadn?t been able to speak to anyone through the usual channels beforehand to check a few details as it was my first time flying in.

I came to wedding reception today Saturday 24th may , buffet food was amazing and venue was excellent and staff was very nice , not sure what 2 girls behind bar names but very polite and hard working , will come again soon

Beautiful part of the country. We stayed over night as went to a family wedding. Rooms were warm and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was superb. George, who worked at the bar and served our meal,was helpful and pleasant. Thank you, George

Pleasant staff although didn't sample the food, will certainly be coming back to sample the menu with friends.lots of choice on the menu vegan/vegetarian and meat loves all catered for. Large carpark

What a gem! The staff are super nice and helpful, the food delicious and what a lovely place to eat outside in the sunshine with Mr Pheasant joining us!
