We loved the location, but to our dismay found the double room very small, extremely noisy as the windows have no double glazing and the Willian Road ,was very busy till abou11.30pm. The church nearby is beautiful but the clock chimes every hour and 1/2 hour, till about 11pm.
The food was poor quality. I had a pork chop, it was tough and tasteless. The steak my daughter had 'was nothing special' either.
Breakfast was very poor quality and choice. We had a full English, the bacon was dry and very salty, infact, I think the quality of the food generally was extremely poor.
The WiFi kept cutting off.
The service from the staff was very good. Pleasant and helpful.
Rooms: The double bedroom was very cramped.
Noise from outside traffic relentless till about 11.30pm.
A huge main lampshade for a small room.
The double bed was the smallest I have seen and to make matters worse the bed side lights were fixed on the head board and sticking out to the side of you head!!
Walkability: The 1st floor bedrooms went be suitable for anyone with any mobility issues. Also you have to go outside to access the resturant. Fortunately, it wasn't raining.
Food and drinks: Disappointing, very poor quality. Average flavours.

We came for an early dinner ...hoping for a good meal. We have been there before,
Disappointed with 2 out of the 3 meals ordered.
Fish N chips. Fish was mainly batter and was greasy, it was layered on a bed of thick chips which were full of grease. Didn't enjoy the meal. The fish pie was mainly mashed potatoes.
No one came to ask how the meal was - and it was too busy to get attention !
I complained on the way out and was told that I should have - when I got the meal. Lesson learnt .
Doubt if we will be returning there

This place would be so much better if they sorted out the lighting in the bar area. It is way to bright! It needs warmer lighting to make it feel like a cozy country pub rather than a brightly lit goldfish bowl for passing traffic.

Ate outside when the weather was nice. I'm not sure if it was because we visited mid week but no one comes outside to take your order. We had asked to sit outside so they knew we had just arrived. Once you receive your food, no one comes back to ask if everything is ok or if we need any other drinks so it means someone needs to go inside to order or ask for sauces. This level of service doesn't reflect the prices.

We came for a Sunday Roast and were utterly underwhelmed by the food. The roast was lacking in flavour and appeared on an absurdly large plate making the meagre Yorkshire pudding seem even smaller. The non-roast mains we had were creative concoctions on menu, that sadly didn't work, and were again very bland.
However, whilst the food was a huge disappointment and not reflective of price, we found the staff and servers great; friendly, efficient and attentive. And the location and building itself is lovely.
If they can sort out the food then I'd return again, but as it is, I'll have to be looking elsewhere.

The Fox is a wonderful place for a special occasion celebration or just for a good meal out. The meals we had were beautifully made, the staff was welcoming and warm. As we were celebrating a special occasion, we also received a complementary cake, which was a very nice touch!
