We did not eat here as we were just having a drink en route. The service was friendly and the lady behind the bar brought the Guinness over to the table. It was a Saturday late afternoon but the pub was quiet so no real atmosphere but I would return.

I love old pubs and have used the lion off and on for many years. As it had changed hands I thought I would pop in for a quick pint. I was disappointed to find a group of people at the bar all vaping using foul language, racist and homophobic comments openly and quite loud. I'm all for free speech and personal opinions but sometimes these need to be not so publicly aired. I finished my drink and will not be returning.

I had a swift pint in the Golden Lion on a walk from Broxbourne to Hoddesdon. The pub had quite a few customers but wasn't uncomfortably crowded. I was served without a long wait and the pint wasn't too expensive. I shared a tablewith a couple of guys by the big window looking out onto the main road. In all a pleasant place to stop...

Love this place, was great to go back and kids play area was fabulous in the sunshine. Would be better in the shade but appreciated newly taken over. Great service and drinks delicious. Glad to see the tyre swing still going!

A bit of a hidden gem this one, albeit hidden in plain site. We stepped in last Sunday for lunch prior to a show at The Spotlight. The service was attentive and friendly, I'm told the Guinness was great, and all the food we had was great, including the roast, a baguette, a lasagne and my ham, egg and chips which was actually two thick slices of the roast gammon. Recommended.

Went to see a band and parked in their car park. It not free (AS ADVERTISED), it permit holders only..... Not even parking notice and right of appeal, straight to threats. Maybe just lost in post! Paid up, not worth the effort as threats come after appeals period. Ruined what had been a good night out.

We are new to the area and went today for a Sunday roast.The service was fantastic and the food was unbelievable! (Especially the dessert yummy)Made us feel really welcome and at home?will defiantly be going back!Thanks guys x
