Booked Christmas dinner in early November. Paid deposit. Found out at the last minute it had now been cancelled. Still trying to get my deposit back after many emails.

Today my wife and i pick up two family friends one 90 years old and the other 86 and drove to the the bushel and strike for lunch . on arrival there was a sign on the door closed till further notice ,we knock the door and was told we are moving out . This lunch was booked over the phone weeks before so why was there no phone call to me . What a let down . MUST UPSET . NO REGARDS WHAT SO EVER . Neil Schooling . P,S .NEVER AGAIN.

Finally made it to this pub for an annual afterparty lunch for many. The events room out back next to the kitchen was perfect for us. Great roast.

Really lovely service and good food. I requested a well lit table as my friend is 84 and partially sighted, and they couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you.

We turned up for our pre- booked group Christmas lunch on Thursday 14 Dec 2023 only to be met by staff in car park to be told the pub was closed from immediate effect. They didn?t even have the decency to contact us. The reputation of this once great pub is now in tatters. Fortunately the three tuns around the corner were able to take a group of nine at 15 minutes notice.

From the moment we entered, the bar staff were super friendly and helpful. My kids were given the ok to share an Adult burger which was great. The food was lovely, and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to enjoy a relaxing meal.

Went here for a friend's birthday party in their function room. Lovely pub fantastic atmosphere from the locals and attentive bar staff. Food provided for the party was lovely.

A very nice two course meal last night. Fresh and very tasty. The pub itself was clean, friendly and had a good atmosphere. Would certainly visit again.

Characterless pub lacking any original features. Decor more like a hotel lobby. Plastic ivy particularly naff. First impression was baskets of dirty glasses on the bar and a stack of unused chairs. No staff to welcome you.

Although the decor leaves somewhat to be desired due to jt being slightly dated, my family and I were surprised to receive lovely food and exceptional service. We have been back multiple times since and it has become our new local place to eat. This place never disappoints! :)

Nice pub in beautiful village of Ashwell. Kids play area looks like a prison yard! Don't understand why there is a garden menu and a sit in menu?
