An oasis of calm near the town centre, and has lasted longer than Bircherly Green shopping centre did. Now with added Kevolution and garden stage.
The new chef is very good and the Sunday roast is most satisfactory. Sadly the beer is rubbish, generally you have a choice between overhopped, yellow stuff or overhopped yellow stuff. Not good for anyone who enjoys a nice pint of traditional ale.

The room upstairs can do with improving. Many pubs are moving away from the classic pub concept and embracing the pub / cafe / restaurant plus venue solution which is child friendly and child inclusive . They should consider this too.
Otherwise a great place to socialise with friends!

The only place in Hertford I like. Marie and Aidan are very friendly. People actually talk to each other and they have live music; folk organised by Pat and punkier / new wave stuff organised by Kevin. Sunday lunch is always really good and vegetarian options are solid.

Great place, folks behind the bar are quick and efficient. Seen bands play and played here myself and it's always a great night!

Went to see a friend in a band. Small and friendly. Drinks a bit more expensive than I expected. Added bonus of a jerk chicken kitchen. Very good ?

Pleasant watering hole but very frayed on the edges. Looks like they could do with an injection of cash pronto. However it was great to attend a literary festival there free of charge. I guess that's why they can't upgrade...no money coming in.

Went to an all-day punk & reggae event here...
Frankly, the bar staff nor the Jamaican food staff were up to the task & it was only moderately busy.
Long queues at the bar for the hours we were there & food orders took way too long.
BUT... the music was decent!!

Lovely Punky Reggae Party on Sunday. Nice vibes, good sound. Jamaican food available although a little slow. Recommended.

Really nice traditional pub, reasonably priced drinks and a decent sized stage area

We took my other Halfs family to have mother's day. We had nut roast with no and I mean no nuts just sunflower seeds and as for dessert..... Mr Kipling's apple pie. Cheap drinks is the only thing good about this club.

Am not a member but non-members can get entry for events. We went for a jongleurs comedy night.
The comedy night was so good. Will come again.
This is a real cozy place, within its own walled , small, grounds. Building probably late 1700s.
Bar staff was efficient and attentive.
I'd become a member if I lived here.
Parking is so limited in this area so as to be, in effect, non-existent, as is the case with all the pedestrianised, heavily parking controlled town centres, but you are only a 4 minute walk from a paid parking lot, and more or less the same from some outlying residential streets where resident permits do not apply after 6pm, weekdays.

I've given a thre star review to be neutral as the club looks nice, but unfortunately I was not allowed in, despite it saying ACC affiliated on the sign.
My wife and I were visiting Hertford and this looks like an oasis on a summers afternoon, however I requested entry under ACC but the bar stewardess said it was not affiliated. There ensued an internal discussion between the steward and someone in the room but to save any embarrassment for all, I said I would leave.
It would be nice to have a definite decision in case we come back, thanks.
